Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Georgetown
A driver meets you at the airport in Georgetown and takes you to your hotel. You'll settle in for the night and get some rest after your arrival.
- Day 2
Kaieteur Falls
Head out early to the botanical garden for birdwatching, then board a small plane headed to Kaieteur Falls, the world's highest free-falling waterfall at 226 meters. You'll walk around and see bromeliads, various bird species, and golden frogs in their natural habitat. By evening, you're back in Georgetown checking out the nightlife with pop-up bars and street food vendors along the embankment.

Georgetown to Iwokrama River Lodge
Take a panoramic flight over rainforest to Annai, then a four-wheel drive continues to Iwokrama River Lodge deep in the rainforest. A ranger leads you on trails around the station to spot wild birds, and later you'll head out on the river by boat searching for caimans and nocturnal creatures.

Iwokrama
Start before sunrise with a boat trip on the Essequibo River, then hike up Turtle Mountain (about 360 meters) for great rainforest views from above. The afternoon brings a visit to Kurupukari Falls and petroglyphs if water levels allow. Optional activities include another boat trip on Stanley Lake or hikes focused on birdwatching around the station.

Iwokrama to Iwokrama Canopy Walkway
Go out at dawn with a ranger stalking for jaguars in the Iwokrama rainforest, which has an active jaguar population. During the drive, watch for birds and monkeys. Later, climb the Iwokrama Canopy Walkway suspended 30 meters high between the trees to observe animals as dusk falls around you.

Iwokrama Canopy Walkway
Start before breakfast on the canopy walkway using suspension bridges between trees to catch colorful birds waking up. After eating, you have the day free to explore the lodge grounds, walk the jungle canopy walkway, and enjoy the pristine surroundings at your own pace. In the evening, search for nocturnal animals either on the walkway or trails near the lodge.

Landmarks/POIs Iwokrama Canopy Walkway - Day 7
Iwokrama to Surama
Spend the morning on the canopy walkway, then drive to the indigenous village of Surama surrounded by the heavily forested Pakaraima Mountains. Meet members of the Macushi tribe and learn about their traditions and way of life. A short hike takes you through savannah and rainforest to the Burro-Burro River where you paddle by canoe looking for giant otters, tapirs, and spider monkeys. An evening hike wraps up the day.

Surama to Rock View Lodge
Walk through savannah terrain early in the day, then make a leisurely climb up Surama Mountain for sweeping views across the savannah and Pakaraima Mountains. Breakfast is served at this great vantage point. Four-wheel drive vehicles take you from there to Annai and Rock View Lodge.

Annai to Karanambu Lodge
Explore one of the lodge trails at dawn, then drive to Ginep Landing and paddle by canoe to Karanambu Lodge, a prime spot for seeing giant otters. In the afternoon, choose between river excursions, four-wheel drive trips into the savannah, or hiking trails around the area.

Karanambu
Head into the savannah early in the morning searching for anteaters. Later in the evening, visit a nearby pond where hundreds of ibises, herons, and other water birds congregate, which is particularly good if you enjoy birdwatching.

- Day 11
Karanambu to Caiman House
Try the savannah excursion again early on if you missed anteaters the previous morning. Move on to the village of Yupukari to meet local craftsmen and watch them work. Transfer to Caiman House for the evening, where you'll search for black caimans and watch researchers catch, measure, and release them back into the river.

Yupukari to Georgetown
Fly back to Georgetown and take a walking tour through the city. You'll see colonial buildings, Stabroek Market, St. George Cathedral with its Gothic architecture, the town hall, and St. Andrews, Guyana's oldest church. After that, visit the botanical gardens and zoo. End your evening at Delven Adams' Backyard Cafe.
