The actual cruise on the Danube was fantastic and would have given five stars only for what happened to us in Romania. The staff on the cruise ship were amazing I still remember all their names and can only say that the entire crew were doing everything possible to make sure that we had the best possible experience anyone could have. My problems started with the first pick up at the airport and we were told a 2.30pm pickup for 3pm departure. We were there at the pickup station at 1.40pm. We waited till 2.05pm and started asking people around if they were on the same cruise could not find anyone. At 2.30pm rang the emergency contact and they got the bus to return for us. I’m most concerned that the tour guide was aware of this problem by another seven passengers and still decided to leave the airport without contacting us or waiting for the correct departure time as first indicated on all our documents. Then at the hotel we were put on the top floor with no elevator or assistance from the hotel staff for our luggage l. Then the food at the hotel in Predeal was the plainest food I had ever tasted in my entire life a can of baked beans would have been tastier. The lunches on these tours were not much better. I would have been better doing the fist four days on my own and got accommodation at the areas we visited that trek back each day to Predeal and waste time of an hour and a half each way per day very disappointed in what happened in Romania this should be communicated to Crossie Europe and I know others in our group were just as disappointed as we were

The boat, the crew, the food and the itinerary were all excellent. I also enjoyed very much our tour in northern Romania, particularly Transylvania. However, the excursions were all a bit similar: always a church, a fortress, a monastery (if there was one), but no chance to see any art galleries or other cultural outlets. There was also scarcely any time to buy essential goods, such as medicines, as we almost never went near any shops, except to walk past a few bars and restaurants, mostly. I caught a kind of flu with upset stomach too, so it was not until the last day in Croatia (Ozijeck)

Overall the cruise was enjoyable, but was more centred on the French contingent. I think we may have been the only Australian passengers, and maybe nine other English speaking passengers. The food was great, entertainment good, and the crew were very accommodating . The optional excursions were tiring with long bus trip ashore, and I thought quite expensive.

Does the cabin price include the 3000 euro fee or is that separate? Is the cabin fee per couple or individual? What is the price range of the other levels? If we wish to do one bike ride each versus two, is that feasible?

    • CroisiEurope River CruisesOperatorWritten September 2024

No 3000 euro fee exists. Prices quoted are total for a couple. Service fee is 99 euros. You are welcome to purchase bike tours in Belgrade and Osijek. Cabin prices vary by deck level, with Upper Deck cabins being most expensive.
