The whole experience was perfect start to finish. Its such a beautiful part of the world, and definitely one that's worth seeing - I experienced so much that I've not before, swimming under the starts in perfectly calm waters being particularly special. If you're worried about being salty all the time, don't be - the water is brackish, and surprisingly un-salty! The equipment you get is top notch, the camp goes up and down in 5 minutes after you've got used to it. The only thing I would say is that the roll mats are very thin (I've camped a lot and they are thinner than any I've had before) so don't offer much in the way of comfort, especially because you're camping on stone most of the time. There is an upgrade to more comfortable equipment though it was quoted as an additional £40 per person per night on the website which is far too much, I'm not sure if that's a mistake or not so take a camping mattress with you to ensure a better night's sleep if its not. Be sure to visit Harstena, the restaurant there serves great food, and the waiter called Tony is a very lovely man. He gave us a place to stay for the night and stayed up drinking with us into the early hours. All of the people involved were great, from organising the trip, dropping us off and teaching us about the boat (pay special attention to how to pack it, it's the most important thing you'll learn!), and again at pick-up time. This is 100% a trip you'll be glad you went on.

Amazingly well organised adventure; run by a fantastic, small team. Rob, who met us and set us up, couldn't have been kinder, more encouraging, patient and helpful. Helena answered all our emails, promptly and fully. Would highly recommend this company and would definitely use them again.

This was by far the best experience I and my girlfriend have ever had and we are certainly going to go again. It was so easy to book and Thomas and his team have made it so easy down to every last detail. The food order was so simple with the food plan/guide that is provided(even though we ordered 6 kilos of carrots, that was my fault though), you can use their recipes or create your own and it is so much fun planning the trip and even more fun when you are actually there! We went for 6 nights and even that was not enough and we did not want to come home. It is so beautiful and with the freedom to camp on any island it makes it either a relaxing trip or a more energetic one, it is definitely something for everyone to enjoy. Something that was really nice was when Thomas and a member of his team personally kayaked out to us to bring some extra lighters and then also to bring us a new fishing rod. It is this personal touch that makes Do The North the people to go with. If you have not booked already then do it and you will not regret it. Matthew Hitchcock and Jodie McGregor

The trip was everything we wanted it to be, 7 days just planning your own tour. Definitely recommend the sauna at Hasko, also a good place for a cheeky ice cream mid trip. Harstena is beautiful and was a nice place to pick up some tasty snacks from the bakery. The organisation from Do The North was brilliant. All of the equipment is high quality and in good condition. We could not recommend this trip more highly if you want a little adventure. Thanks Thomas.

Had an absolutely amazing time! I could go on and rant about how amazing it was but it really wouldn't do it justice! Fair play to Thomas and the crew they really made us feel welcome and get us going. They really know what they are doing and it shows! Haven't even been home a week and I am already missing it! Highly, highly recommend it!

The whole set up was superb, from the initial email, the advice about food, the hostel booking, through to the superb equipment and guidance. We set off with a degree of trepidation (well I did!). It all worked out brilliantly, each island had something special and I couldn't believe how busy each day was - I naively thought we might be a bit bored! I loved the sauna and discovering the restaurant and the bakery. Already people are asking me more about my holiday, might be organizing a group excursion next!

What kind of Kajaks will we get? We are not experienced and have never used a closed one, where the legs are hidden like on the pictures.

    • Do the NorthOperatorWritten January 2024

You can bring lots and lots of food. Our double kayaks have a lot of space and are made for multi-day journeys.

    • Do the NorthOperatorWritten January 2024

You will get two Hilleberg Staika double tents.

    • Do the NorthOperatorWritten January 2024

The kayak is called Zegul Völsung. It's a very easy kayak to paddle as a beginner. Also, it has large cockpits, so even tho your legs are hidden, it's not one of those kayaks with very small cockpits. You won't feel stuck at all. It's roomy and easy to get in and out of.

My husband is 1,93 meter an my older son nearly 1,90 meter. Will they have space in the kayak aswell?

    • Do the NorthOperatorWritten January 2024

Yes, if they sit in the front of the double kayaks there is plenty of leg room.

We don't hire rods anymore, but if you wish to bring your own gear your are more than welcome to. No fishing license needed. You are most likely to catch pike or perch. Zander and whitefish are also possible, but less common.

I'm afraid we don't start up our season until at the end of May. It can be dangerous paddling that early, some years it's still ice out there around now. It's one thing if your experienced doing it completely on your own, but as a company we don't feel ok putting anyone at risk. I hope you can make it a lil later instead!

    Asked on May 1st, 2017

Is August a good time to do this trip?

    Other
    • Do the NorthOperatorWritten May 2017

August is a really beautiful time to visit Saint Anna. The water has had the whole summer to warm up and it's usually a bit calmer than earlier in the summer. Good chances for warm swims, sunbathing and some pretty amazing sunsets!

How to get to the starting point?

    Flights / Transfers
    • Do the NorthOperatorWritten May 2017

We do pick-up from Norrköping 10am every weekday so you'd have to either arrive the night before and stay at accommodation in Norrköping or get to Norrköping in the morning in time for pick-up.
