Itinerary

Arrival in Negombo
Your personal chauffeur meets you at Bandaranaike International Airport and takes you to your hotel in Negombo, which sits about 30 kilometers north of Colombo. After you check in, there's a quick tour briefing to go over the itinerary and logistics. Then you'll have your Welcome Dinner to kick things off.

Wilpattu National Park Safari
Head out early for a full-day safari at Wilpattu National Park, Sri Lanka's oldest and largest wildlife reserve. You'll spend hours driving through the park looking for Sri Lankan leopards, sloth bears, and endemic bird species. Bringing binoculars and a good camera helps capture the wildlife you encounter throughout the day.

Wilpattu to Kandy via Spice Garden
You're transferred to Kandy, which takes roughly 5 hours by road. On the way, stop at the Spice Garden in Matale where you can walk through rows of cinnamon, cardamom, and clove plants, and learn how these spices grow. Once in Kandy, explore the 19th-century monuments around the city and visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic, the most sacred Buddhist temple in Sri Lanka.

Kandy to Udawalawe
Travel to Udawalawe where the Elephant Transit Home is your first stop, a conservation project that rehabilitates orphaned and injured elephants for release back into the wild. You'll watch these animals from a safe distance, observing their behavior and interactions. Later in the afternoon or early evening, head into Udawalawe National Park for a safari before returning for dinner.

Udawalawe to Yala
You're driven to Yala and check into a tented camp right on the park's border. The park contains ecosystems found nowhere else in Sri Lanka, making it special for wildlife viewing. This evening you'll have your first safari in Yala, where the leopard population is incredibly dense—about one leopard per square mile—making it one of the best places globally to photograph these big cats.

Full Day Yala Safari
Spend the full day in Yala National Park with packed lunches provided during your drives. Beyond leopards, you'll look for sloth bears, golden palm civets, wild water buffalo, and various bird species like hornbills and peacocks. Return to the tented camp for dinner, and if you're interested, join an optional night walk with your guide to experience the park after dark.

Yala to Mirissa
In the afternoon, you're transferred to Mirissa on Sri Lanka's southern coast, roughly 2 to 3 hours from Yala. Once there, you can spend the rest of the day relaxing on the golden sandy beaches, wandering through local shops, or simply taking in the coastal scenery. The hotel has facilities to enjoy, or you can explore the nearby fishing village and get a sense of local life.

Landmarks/POIs Mirissa Beach - Day 8
Whale Watching and Galle Fort
Your day starts very early with a 6:15am pickup to get to Mirissa harbour for the whale watching tour. The southern coastline sees blue whales and sperm whales migrating between the Horn of Africa and the Bay of Bengal, so you have good chances of spotting them. After returning from the water, you'll visit the historic Galle Fort, built by Portuguese colonists and later fortified by the Dutch in the 17th century. Tonight you'll have your Farewell Dinner back at the hotel.

Departure from Mirissa
Spend your final morning on Mirissa's beaches, swimming or just sitting and reflecting on your trip. Grab breakfast at the hotel and relax before your transfer to the airport, timed so you can catch your flight home without rushing.
