Itinerary
- Day 1
Cartagena to Santa Marta
You'll arrive in Cartagena and then drive about 4 hours to Santa Marta. After checking into your hotel in the city center, you have the afternoon free to either head down to the beach at your own pace or kick back on the hotel rooftop. The trip leader will give a briefing at 6:30 pm so everyone's on the same page about what's coming up.

Landmarks/POIs Santa Marta Beach - Day 2
Santa Marta
This morning you'll head out for a medium hike in Tayrona Park, which is about 45 minutes from Santa Marta. The 6 km trail takes you through Arrecife, Arenillas, La Piscine, and ends at San Juan where you'll have beach time and can take photos. On the way back, there's an optional horseback ride available for USD 15 one way if you want to skip the hike down.

Landmarks/POIs Tayrona National Park Cabo San Juan - Day 3
El Mamey to Alfredo Camp
You'll drive to El Mamey Village first for lunch, then start the Lost City trek. From there, it's approximately 12 km (6.5 miles) to Alfredo's Camp Site. You'll stay in basic camping accommodations with bunk beds and mosquito nets, so don't expect luxury but it's functional.

Landmarks/POIs La Sierra Nevada - Day 4
Alfredo Camp to Paraiso Camp
This is a full day on the trail - about 8 hours covering roughly 14.7 km (9 miles) from Alfredo's to Paraiso's cabin. Along the way you'll meet the Mutanyi indigenous people, follow the Buritaca River, and walk through remote primary forest. Dinner gets served at 6:00 pm. For sleeping, you can choose between beds or hammocks, both come with mosquito nets.

Paraiso Camp to Lost City to Wiwa Camp
Breakfast comes early at 5:00 am so you can hike to the Lost City archaeological complex. You'll climb over 1,200 steps to reach it, then get a guided tour with time for photos. After heading back to Paraiso Camp for lunch, you'll pack up and shower before moving on to Wiwa Camp for the night.

Wiwa Camp to El Mamey to Santa Marta
You're starting early again for the final 15 km (10 miles) hike back to El Mamey Village. After lunch there, you'll make the return journey to Santa Marta City. This is when things shift from basic camp conditions back to real beds and comfort.

Santa Marta to Cartagena
You'll drive along the Caribbean coastal highway with a stop in Barranquilla for snacks, then arrive in Cartagena for a guided tour. You'll see Castillo de San Felipe, wander through the Getsemani neighbourhood, check out the commercial area, and explore the historic downtown that dates back to the 16th century. Later in the evening, you'll learn some basic Colombian salsa moves.

Your final morning includes breakfast before heading to the airport. You'll say goodbye to your group and guide before heading home.
