Itinerary
- Day 1
Broome to Fitzroy Crossing
You'll leave Broome early and head out along the Gibb River Road, which is one of those iconic outback drives. First up, you'll wade through Tunnel Creek, which happens to be Western Australia's oldest cave system and it's quite something to walk through. After that, you stop at Windjana Gorge where you can see ancient marine fossils right there in the gorge walls. By evening, you'll be settled at your premium accommodation in Fitzroy Crossing, about 290 kilometers from where you started.

- Day 2
Fitzroy Crossing to Purnululu National Park
Today you're traveling to Purnululu National Park, and it's quite a journey into remote country. When you get there, you'll visit an Indigenous art gallery in the Yiyili community and take a language class as part of your Insider Experience. Later, you'll check into your wilderness lodge and there's another Insider Experience scheduled for this evening, so you'll have time to settle in and get oriented.

- Day 3
Purnululu National Park
You'll spend the full day exploring Purnululu's most interesting locations. Cathedral Gorge is the main attraction here, and it's a natural amphitheatre created over millions of years of erosion with incredible acoustics that really make the place special. In the afternoon, you can stroll along Piccaninny Creek and wander through the park's unique landscapes, or if you want to upgrade, there's an optional helicopter flight that gives you a completely different perspective on the area.

- Day 4
Purnululu National Park to Kununurra
Another day in Purnululu and you're hiking to Echidna Chasm, which is quite otherworldly when you get into it. You'll walk through this narrow cleft with cliffs that reach up to 200 metres on either side, which really puts things in perspective. Later in the day, you'll travel to Kununurra and check into your accommodation, so it's a good mix of hiking and then settling into your next base for a couple nights.

- Day 5
Kununurra to El Questro Wilderness Park
This day is fairly flexible. You can spend it in Kununurra doing your own thing and exploring the town at your pace, or there's an optional Ord River cruise if you want something organized. Later, you'll transfer to El Questro Wilderness Park where the next part of your trip really opens up. It's a good transition day between the national park and the next wilderness area.

El Questro Wilderness Park
You'll head out for a walk to Emma Gorge, which is basically an oasis in the landscape with a waterfall where you can cool off beneath the falls while the cliff overhangs keep things shaded. If that doesn't appeal, you can choose a Chamberlain Gorge cruise instead and see the area from the water. Either way, you're getting up close with the park's natural features.

El Questro Wilderness Park
You'll visit Manning Creek and have lunch in the shade of the region's massive boab trees, which are something else to see up close. After lunch, you'll have a refreshing swim in the water there, then continue on to Galvans Gorge for a short walk to a natural waterhole for another swim. By evening, you'll check into your new wilderness lodge, so it's a water-focused day with multiple stops for cooling off.

Bell Gorge to Derby
Back on the Gibb River Road now, heading to Bell Gorge where you'll find cliffs surrounding a series of tiered waterholes. If the temperature's right, you can take a dip at the top of the falls to cool off. Once you've finished exploring Bell Gorge, you'll drive to Derby for your final stay, so it's a longer travel day but with time for one more good stop along the way.

Landmarks Bell Gorge - Day 9
Derby to Broome
Today you'll visit the Boab Prison Tree, which is 14 metres wide and estimated to be over 1,500 years old. Early police patrols actually used it as a holding point for prisoners, which is pretty significant historically. After spending time there, you'll head back to Broome where your trip comes to an end. It's about 220 kilometers, so an easy final drive to wrap things up.
