Itinerary
- Day 1
Rubavu to Cyimbiri
Start heading out at 7:00 am from Rubavu, where the Bralirwa facility sits, and begin a 7-hour walk to Cyimbiri village. You'll pass through coffee, cassava, beans, yams, and banana plantations throughout the hike, and from there you can take in views of Lake Kivu along with the rolling hills surrounding it. The guesthouse where you'll stay that night is budget-friendly, so it's a good stopping point after a long day on foot.

Cyimbiri to Kinunu
After eating breakfast at 7:30 am, you'll continue hiking for about 5 hours heading toward Kinunu. Along the route, there's time for bird watching and you might see local fishing activities near the water. Coffee and banana plantations line the trail, and you'll get good views of the landscape as you make your way through this section.

- Day 3
Kinunu to Bumba
Once you finish breakfast at 8:00 am, it's another 5-hour hike ahead to Bumba Center. Rwanda's characteristic rolling hills will be around you the whole time, and this is a good moment to capture final photos of your Congo Nile Trail experience. Bumba Base Camp has meals included and serves as your base for the night.

Bumba to Karongi
Breakfast happens at 8:00 am, then you're hiking for around 5 hours to reach Karongi. The Delta Resort Hotel is where you'll check in for meals and lodging once you arrive, so you can settle in after another day of walking.

Karongi to Rusizi
After breakfast, a boat takes you out to Napoleon Island where bat colonies hang around and there's hiking to do. Your driver will pick you up later for a 2-hour drive down to Rusizi. Accommodations in Rusizi include meals for that night.

Rusizi
This is your recovery day in Rusizi. There's no structured activities planned, so you can walk around town and check things out at your own pace. It's a chance to catch your breath after several days of hiking.

Rusizi to Kigali
After breakfast, you'll drive for 8 hours from Rusizi back to Kigali, and there's a stop at the King's Palace Museum along the way. Once you get to the airport, that marks the end of your tour.
