Kathleen (Kathy)· July 28th, 2022The tour leader,Placido was tired and burned out .He had had one day off since March and you could tell.No passion or enthusiasm, just getting through each day, spewing out facts and figures for hours a day,in three different languages.What he had to tell us wasn’t memorable,basically straight out of Lonely Planet.If you asked him a question that wasn’t in the book he would just ignore you. The passengers were almost all Italian ,with six Spanish speaking and only three English people.,myself included.Thankfully the two American women let me join them for the 5 days they were on tour otherwise it would be all meals by myself and no one to talk to for the whole trip. When we arrived in Taormina,I found out that I was by myself and that no one in the group was staying there.I was told to get a taxi at my own expense to the hotel that Omega tours had booked me into,several kilometres out of town.When I questioned Placido about this he just said” Nothing to do with me,ring the emergency number.Very poor considering I was still on the tour for another three days. Omega tours did apologise and reimburse me for the taxi,but I felt that I was dumped in Taormina and the the tour leader was not interested at all in helping me. A disappointing tour overall,the highlight was meeting the delightful mother and daughter Americans.No group interaction due to the language barrier and overwhelming number of Italians on board.Show moreTrip date: July 2022
