Lagos
You'll arrive in Lagos and check into your hotel. The historic centre has winding alleyways, a working harbour, and a nice sandy beach that sets up your week well. Spend the afternoon getting oriented and maybe grab an early dinner somewhere in town.

Sagres to Figueira
Head out from Sagres for a coastal hike that covers some real distance. The terrain rolls through scrubland, and you'll navigate rocky steep sections with views into coves and bays throughout. By late afternoon you'll reach Figueira village, which sits right on the water. It's a solid day of hiking with good views.

Burgau to Ponta da Piedade
This hike starts in Burgau and follows the cliffs east. You'll pass small bays and come across sea caves you can poke around in. The trail finishes at a lighthouse overlooking Ponta da Piedade's distinctive rock formations. The whole route keeps you right along the edge, so the ocean's always there.

Ferragudo to Praia da Marinha
Starting from Ferragudo, the path takes you over steep cliff sections where limestone has created hollowed-out formations. After a couple hours you'll stop at a beach bar in Cavoeiro to rest and grab water or a drink. Then you continue through the seven hanging valleys, which have interesting rock shapes scattered around. You finish at Praia da Marinha, a nice beach spot for cooling off.

Coastal Dunes and Lagoons to Faro Island
You'll walk through a coastal nature reserve on winding paths with dunes and lagoons on either side. There are viewing towers along the way where you can spot different birds. The trail follows what locals call the Ludo-Trail, and it takes you across to Faro island, a long strip of sand perfect for a break and refreshment before heading back.

Landmarks/POIs Ria Formosa Nature Reserve Faro Island - Day 6
Fuzeta to Tavira
Take a short train to Fuzeta first, then start hiking through Ria Formosa nature park. You'll see salt ponds, small colourful villages, and orchards with flowers. Later the trail runs along the lagoon edge heading toward Tavira island, passing the Anchor Cemetery and stretches of fine sand. The hike finishes with a boat ride into Tavira town itself, called the 'Venice of the Algarve' for good reason.

Tavira to Vila Real de Santo António
The route heads east toward Spain, crossing gentle dunes and walking through pine forest with a nice scent. You'll reach stretches of empty beach and eventually arrive at the Rio Guadiana estuary. The final stop is Vila Real de Santo António, a small hamlet with character and historic buildings that mark the border area.
