  1. Day 1

    Sydney to Canberra

    You'll start in Sydney and head into the Southern Highlands to reach Gold Creek Station, a 400-hectare working farm. There you'll have a Be My Guest BBQ lunch and spend time with the local farming family learning about their operation. After that, you'll travel to Canberra for a guided tour covering Parliament House and the Australian War Memorial, which gives you a solid overview of the city's main attractions.

  2. Day 2

    Canberra to Wangaratta

    Your day begins with a guided tour around Canberra, including a walk up Mt. Ainslie where you'll get panoramic views of the city from above. Then you'll head south across the Murray River to Beechworth, Victoria's best-preserved gold rush town. Once there, you'll have time to wander through antique shops, galleries, parks and museums on your own. Later you'll continue on to Wangaratta.

The town has statues and a well-curated museum that fill in the details about this period. After exploring Glenrowan, you'll head to Melbourne for a city and laneway tour to get oriented, then you'll have free time to check out the arts scene, restaurants, cafes, bars and hidden spots throughout the city.

    You have the full day to explore Melbourne at your own pace. You can ride trams out to different neighborhoods like bohemian Brunswick or seaside St. Kilda to see how each area has its own character. If you want something more structured, there are optional experiences available: the Melbourne Skydeck at Eureka Tower gives you panoramic views of the bay, or you can head to Phillip Island to watch hundreds of little penguins return from the sea at dusk.

    I loved every aspect of this guided holiday. Amazing tour guide and driver, easy way to travel in a luxury coach, porterage included, delicious food and a lot of insider knowledge from local experts in all areas you can't get from your guide books. Highly recommend!

    Are there any guided tours of Sydney and Melbourne in July 2024? I am in my late 60's and interested in nature and history.

    • For any tour departing before February 17th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after February 17th, 2026, a minimum payment of $200 is required to confirm your booking with AAT Kings. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 65 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
    • Some departure dates and prices may vary and AAT Kings will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
    • The following cards are accepted for "AAT Kings" tours: Visa, Maestro, Mastercard, American Express or PayPal. TourRadar does NOT charge you an extra fee for using any of these payment methods.
