The hike covers 6 miles into Horseshoe Basin and follows the Roaring River drainage, climbing through mountain terrain as you gain 2500 feet of elevation. Once you're up in the Mummy Range high country, you'll set up camp near Mummy Mountain. Your guide handles dinner preparation, so you can settle in for the night.

  2. Day 2

    Rocky Mountain National Park

After some downtime at camp this morning, you'll hike over 3 miles to The Saddle on the Crystal Lake Trail to help your body adjust to the altitude before tomorrow's summit push. This section climbs 1400 feet and gives you solid views from the saddle area. If you're interested, there's an optional side trip down to Crystal Lake itself. Back at camp you'll have a substantial meal and can take in the mountain scenery around you.

  3. Day 3

    Mummy Mountain Summit Attempt

You're heading out early this morning for the Mummy Mountain summit attempt, timing it so you can get back down before afternoon thunderstorms roll in. The route is 5 miles with steep climbing that gains 2500 feet, and you'll get views the entire way up. The llamas stay at camp for this one since it's more technical terrain. It's a serious climb but you're on some really solid Rocky Mountain ground.

Once you reach the bottom, the 40-minute shuttle takes you back to Estes Park where hot showers and a real bed are waiting for you.
