Itinerary
- Day 1
Las Vegas to Joshua Tree National Park
After your hotel pickup in Las Vegas, you'll head south on a 4-hour shuttle through the Mojave Desert. The drive takes you past Mojave National Preserve with your first glimpses of Joshua tree groves along the way. Once you reach the trailhead, there's time for lunch before you start hiking. The hike into Wonderland of Rocks covers 4.3 miles and you'll move through desert shrubs and massive boulders as you gain elevation. By evening you'll set up camp for the night.

- Day 2
Joshua Tree Backcountry
This morning starts after breakfast and breaking down camp. You'll hike 8.5 miles deeper into the park, traveling along ridges with views across the terrain. The route takes you through monzogranite rock formations, and you'll need to refill water supplies along the way. After passing through a wide expanse of Joshua trees, you'll find some old structures from the 1800s before reaching your camp in an area known for quail. It's a longer day on the trail but the landscape changes significantly as you go.

Landmarks/POIs Joshua Tree National Park - Day 3
Joshua Tree Backcountry
Today's only 6 miles but the ground is harder to cover. You'll navigate backcountry canyons with sandy washes, slickrock sections, and scattered boulders. There's a water cache you'll pass, then you'll follow various trails and washes heading higher. By afternoon you reach a grassy flat at elevation surrounded by some of the park's largest Joshua trees, and that's where you'll camp for your final night in the backcountry.

Joshua Tree to Las Vegas
Your last day includes a challenging climb up Eureka Peak near the San Andreas Fault, where you'll get panoramic views of Coachella Valley and the San Bernardino Mountains spread out below. After taking in the scenery, the descent is steep through the Little San Bernardino Mountains. You'll work your way down through ravines, canyon walls, and pinyon-juniper woodlands. Once you reach Black Rock Canyon Campground, there's a celebratory lunch before the 4-hour shuttle ride back to Las Vegas.
