Itinerary
- Day 1
Lanzhou
You'll arrive in Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu Province. From the airport, take either a fast train or airport bus to reach the city center, then head to your hotel to check in. The rest of the day is yours to explore at your own pace and get familiar with the city.

- Day 2
Lanzhou to Zhangye
Make your way to Lanzhou station and board a 3-hour bullet train to Zhangye, watching the Qilian Mountains roll by during the journey. Once you arrive, visit Dafo Temple to see the 34.5-meter sleeping Buddha statue, then settle into your hotel in Zhangye for the night.

- Day 3
Zhangye to Jiayuguan
Head out for a one-hour drive to Danxia Mountains, also called Zhangye Rainbow Mountain, where you'll see the remarkable layered landscape of red, yellow, white and black clays. After taking in the views, you'll drive 3 hours through the region to reach Jiayuguan for your overnight stay.

- Day 4
Jiayuguan to Dunhuang
Start the day at Jiayuguan Fortress, the western end of the Great Wall and a UNESCO World Heritage Site built between the Qilian and Black Mountains in the narrowest part of the Hexi Corridor. Then you'll drive 5 hours across the Gobi desert to arrive in Dunhuang.

- Day 5
Dunhuang
Begin your morning at Mogao Caves, a significant site from the ancient Silk Road with origins dating back to the 4th century and featuring colorful frescoes and Buddhist sculptures. In the afternoon, head to Minsha Shan (Singing Sand Dunes) and Crescent Moon Spring, where you can ride a camel if you'd like. Come evening, explore the night market or take in a Dunhuang performance at the theater.

- Day 6
Dunhuang
Your guide meets you at 8am at the hotel. You'll take a 1.5-hour ride to Jade Gate Pass (Yumenguan), an important ancient pass in the Gobi Desert near Dunhuang, and see the Han Dynasty Great Wall Ruin built around 2,000 years ago. After that, drive 1 hour to Yang Pass, another significant Silk Road fort, then return to your hotel.
