  1. Day 1

    Islamabad

    You'll arrive at Islamabad airport where your guide and driver will be waiting for you. Once you get settled into your hotel, spend the day checking out the city's main landmarks. The Faisal Mosque is a must-see, and from Shakar Parian National Park and Daman-e-Koh you can get great views across the city. The Pakistan Monument is worth seeing for its granite structure, and if you're interested in local crafts, the Lok Versa Museum displays traditional Pakistani handicrafts.

    Islamabad to Chilas

    This is a long travel day, so get ready for a 9 to 10-hour drive heading toward Chilas through mountain terrain. You'll stop for lunch around Naran, then continue on through Babusar Pass which sits at 4,173 meters. By evening you'll reach your hotel in Chilas and can rest up from the road.

  3. Day 3

    Chilas to Karimabad

    After leaving Chilas, you'll drive for 5 to 6 hours to reach Karimabad. The route includes scenic stops at Thalichi, where three major mountain ranges meet, and at Rakaposhi viewing point where you can see some great peaks. Once you check into your hotel, spend the evening walking through the local bazaar with your guide to get a feel for the area.

  4. Day 4

    Hopper Valley - Forts

    Head out for a 3-hour drive to Hopper Valley to see the Barpu, Bualtar, Miar, and Sumayar glaciers. Then you'll visit Altit Fort at the foot of a hill and Baltit Fort on the hilltop above, where historical displays show the royal heritage of the region. Before heading back to Karimabad, walk through local villages to see how people live in this area.

    Karimabad to Duiker Valley

    Drive 30 minutes to Duiker Valley at 2,900 meters elevation, a spot known for beautiful sunrise and sunset views. You'll be able to see Mount Ultar, glaciers, and wide vistas of the Hunza valley. After a break, take a 2 to 3-hour walk through a village that brings you to the Hazrat Abbas shrines.

    Duiker Valley to Passu

    Travel 1 hour to Passu, and along the way you'll stop at Attaabad Lake, a calm body of water formed by a natural landslide. After checking in, spend the rest of the day exploring the area including Borith Lake, Passu Glacier, and the Hussani suspension bridge. You can also visit nearby villages like Gulking, Gulmit, Passu, and Hussani.

    You'll travel to Khunjerab Pass at 4,733 meters elevation, the highest point on your entire route. Take in the views of quiet villages and untouched landscapes, then drive back down to your hotel in Karimabad.

    Karimabad to Gahkuch

    Phander Valley

    Spend your entire day in Phander Valley, the main attraction in Ghizer District. The valley has interesting canyons and deep blue lakes worth exploring. By evening you'll head back to your hotel in Gahkuch.

    Gilgit - Chilas

    Chilas to Islamabad

    Taxila

    Take a guided tour of Taxila, an ancient town with 2,500 years of history behind it.     We just came back from an amazing visit to Jordan. This is the second time we have used Agate Travel for a trip and like the first time, everything was meticulously planned and executed. We had a personal driver (Radwan Alshwikee) the entire time who went to great lengths to make sure we were taken good care of everywhere we went. He provided insights into the culture, took us to great local restaurants, and helped us with anything we needed every step of the way. In Jerash and Petra, we supplemented our visits with extremely knowledgeable tour guides who shared great insights and information about these ancient sites. We went back to Petra in the evening to experience it by candlelight and with the help of our driver, Radwan, we were able to be among the first people to get in, so we largely had the place to ourselves before other people showed up. Jordan is a wonderful country to visit, the history is unmatched, the desert is spectacular, and the people are very friendly. If you are contemplating visiting: Go! You won’t regret it.
