Our guide and itinerary were very good, but accommodations were uneven with the Bealey Quarter Hotel, where the tour began and ended, having substandard accommodations and services.

Outstanding overview of the entire country. Liked that we stayed most places for 2 nights rather than changing accommodations every night. Provided numerous activities at all locations although some were a bit spendy especially those that included flying i.e. Heli Hikes on Franz Josef Glacier. Hobbiton was a highlight as was Queenstown's 4WD LOTR locations tour. Our guide was well versed on history and Māori culture and shared great insights on both during the travel time we had on the bus. Bus was comfortable and provided great views of the amazing landscape. Well-paced for the number of days included.

The tour was excellent, a very good itinerary, our tour leader, Adam had a very good knowledge & his commentary on road while driving from one place to another was very good, he stopped at interesting spots for us to spend time, view & take pictures.

Where's the meeting point location at Christchurch and finishing location at Queenstown?

    • Intrepid TravelOperatorWritten September 2024

Since you are not looking to travel until 2026 we cannot guarantee your accommodations on Stewart Island. The earlier you book the better chance of receiving a hotel stay with private facilities. The accommodations on the island are very limited, by pre-planning and booking early you have a better chance.

Looking for a South Island tour for my mother in law. She is in her 70's from France and relatively fit and mobile. She is interested in a tour that is approximately 10 days but is flexible. She would like a guided tour with others where everything is organised. Her English is reasonable.

    Asked on July 15th, 2022

My husband can walk with a cane for a mile or so, but is rather slow. He also needs to use a restroom frequently (90-120 minutes). He would be fine sitting in the van or on a bench while others walk, as long as there were interesting things to see. Is this tour or one of your other NZ tours suitable for him? Would the driver/other passengers happily accommodate his need for frequent restroom breaks?

Yes, I think that should be fine. As long as he has someone traveling with him who can assist with stairs or uneven floors when on a walk. The Guide will check in with him before the walks, it is up to the guide to make the final decision if a walk is safe for him to do. If he won't be able to attend a walk he might need to wait in the van or at a nearby café for a while. But most of the activities should be fine for him.
