Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Kathmandu to Soti Khola

After getting your permits sorted, you'll head out on an 8-hour jeep drive to Soti Khola using the Prithivi highway and some rough off-road routes. The ride takes you through rural villages, paddy fields, and farmland with some nice riverside crossings along the way. You'll get a real sense of local life and see plenty of interesting scenery throughout the journey.

    Landmarks/POIs
    Soti Khola Bazzar
    Arughat Bazar
  2. Day 2

    Soti Khola Trek Start

This is a longer first trekking day, roughly 10 hours on mixed terrain, so you'll want to be in good shape for it. You walk with a guide and porter who handles the heavy stuff while you carry just a small day pack. You'll pass through villages and stay at local tea houses, ordering meals from their menus as you go.

    Meals
    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    Included Activities

    • Walking on different types of terrain through pristine landscapes
  3. Day 3

    Dovan to Philim

Starting from Dovan at the junction of two rivers, you'll hike to Philim in about 6 hours. The route takes you through a rock fall zone and over suspension bridges, passing several small villages along the way. Philim itself is larger than most villages, with a school, health post, and police station.

    Meals
    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    Included Activities

    • Walking from riverside village through rock fall zone and suspension bridges
    Landmarks/POIs
    Dovan
    Ekle Bhatti
    Philim
  4. Day 4

    Philim to Ghap

You'll walk alongside the river passing through numerous villages, with most trekkers stopping for lunch at Chisopani. There are waterfalls to see and villages perched on cliffs across the water. The day finishes at Ghap, a riverside village in a wide open valley, after roughly 6 hours of hiking.

    Meals
Breakfast, Lunch (at Chisopani village), Dinner

    Included Activities

    • Walking on riverside path past villages and waterfalls
    Landmarks/POIs
    Chisopani
    Ghap
  5. Day 5

    Ghap to Samagaun

The trek takes you through jungle to a guest house where you can see interesting rock formations from a truss bridge, including a natural rock arch over the river. Then you continue on to Samagaun, a village at the valley's edge that has centuries-old architecture. Expect about 10 hours of trekking for this one.

    Meals
    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

  6. Day 6

    Samagaun Acclimatization Day

Just 1.5 hours of hiking today to help you adjust to the altitude. You've got choices for what to do with the rest of your time: hike to Birendra Lake for glacier views, head to Manaslu Base Camp for something more challenging, visit a yak shed for quiet time, or go to the monastery for solitude. Keep an eye out for blue sheep, deer, yaks, and various birds.

    Meals
    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    Included Activities

    • Short acclimatization hike from Samagaun

    Optional Activities

    • Hike to Birendra Lake (glacial lake views)
    • Trek to Manaslu Base Camp

    Landmarks/POIs
    Birendra Lake
    Manaslu Base Camp
    Samagaun Monastery
  7. Day 7

    Samagaun to Samdo

An easy 3-hour day to Samdo village, and you'll want to take it slow because of the altitude change. Enjoy the natural scenery around you. Once you reach Samdo, views of Mt. Manaslu disappear from sight. Samdo is basically the sister village to Samagaun.

    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

You'll walk past glacial lakes, glaciers, and rock formations with blue sheep nearby. It's a tough 8 to 10 hours, but the mountain views on both sides are extraordinary and the landscape changes dramatically. A packed lunch is provided.

You'll get to see Mt. Manaslu from the opposite side this time, with Samagaun just behind the peak. This is probably your last night sleeping in the mountains.

The Langtang Valley Circuit Trek (11 Days) was an incredible experience! Stunning views of Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, and Dorje Lakpa, along with the rich Tamang culture and warm hospitality, made this trek unforgettable. A big thanks to Nepalgram Adventure for their excellent organization and support. If you're looking for a scenic, less crowded, and culturally rich trek, I highly recommend them!

We enjoyed our experience hiking into the high mountain villages of the Mansula circuit. We really wanted a cultural immersion experience and we did achieve that goal. We so enjoyed the beautiful vistas, the people, and the villages. Are only regret was that we wanted more free time just to walk in the villages we visited.
