- Marilyn· October 24th, 2024I want to start with a shout out to our exemplary guide Giorgio. He was well informed, super efficient, and above all, patient. I was not the easiest client - being 22 years older than the next oldest participant, but, Giorgio never let me feel I was a drag, always helped me over the rocky bits, included me and was the epitome of kindness and consideration. The trip was great. Good diversity of days - some energetic, some less so. All the hotels were super comfortable and so was our little mini bus. The sites we saw were all interesting and beautiful and the scenary was amazing. The history of the region is dense and complex and I need to do more reading to appreciate what I saw. It would be useful to have a more extensive reading list. We were a small group of 4. There were no fights - that I know of! And we all collaborated well, and took an in depth appreciation of what we saw and heard. I think my highlight was the small group of musicians we saw and heard in Telavi. Truly beautiful a capella singing. Personally I could have done with a bit more ‘shopping time’, especially for fabrics and rugs, but that’s just a motivation to go back again!Show moreIntrepid Premium commented on this reviewThank you for taking the time to leave a review, Marilyn. Asked on May 23rd, 2025Is the land crossing between Azerbaijan and Georgia very strenuous for senior citizens? I understand that one has to carry one's own bags uphill on a steep flight of stairs.
- Intrepid PremiumOperator•Written May 2025
We recommend you pack as lightly as possible, ensuring that you are able to carry and lift your own luggage and walk with it for short distances or up or down a flight of stairs. Help will be on hand in most locations, but there may be times you need to handle your own luggage. During border crossing, it will be necessary to carry or wheel your luggage a short distance (700 m) to the Georgia customs area. A lockable suitcase with wheels is ideal for this trip. It is recommended that you keep your main luggage weight around 15kg and certainly no more than 20kg. A small or medium-sized backpack (45-50 litres) is another good option. You'll also need a day pack/bag to carry water, camera, jacket, etc. when you're exploring during the day.

Asked on September 21st, 2024how can I get an e-sim while travelling outside Canada?
- Intrepid PremiumOperator•Written September 2024
Every time I travel I use the Airalo App to purchase my E-SIM. The App is very easy to use, inexpensive and will give you guided steps on how to activate your E-SIM. I just had a look and they offer a few different options for Azerbaijan depending on how long you need it and how much data you'd like.
