- Robert· July 13th, 2025Prior to departure we were unable to pre book any excursions your App failed to work. We joined the ship in Vienna, most passengers joined at the prior port and had booked their excursions before arriving in Vienna. No trips were available. Very disappointed that the pool was not open it was broken, temperature 37’c! To get a dining table was a nightmare unless you paid €10 per cabin per day this was not stated in the tour details when booking our holiday. Two stop overs were listed both which you could not get off unless you had booked an excursion and as stated above all gone. The good news, the staff were excellent and the counter chef VJ looked after my Gluten free meals.Show moreTrip date: July 2025
- Graham· October 10th, 2024Good itinerary and excellent crew on the ship. The ship would benefit from a lift between decks and a small quiet public area.Show moreA-ROSA commented on this reviewDear Graham, thank you for your review, we are happy to hear that you had a great time on board! As most river cruise ships are quite small and intimate, most do not have a lift. If you prefer to sail on a ship with a lift, we recommend A-ROSA ALEA,... Show moreTrip date: September 2024

- APALFRED· August 12th, 2024A nice and quiet and comfortable ship with many stops along the way and Extensive mileage log of 1100 km. Plenty of food and drinks. The only concern I wanted to express. The food wasn't quite gourmet standard but all in all acceptable.Show moreA-ROSA commented on this reviewDear Alfred, thank you very much for leaving a review on your Danube Classics cruise! - GWGeraldine· October 16th, 2023The staff and service on the Arosa Donna for the most part were great. However, I had booked this trip as it was 2 days in Budapest and was also stopping in Melk on 13 October which was St. Coleman feastday and festival.I had booked the tour from Krem to Melk so we could see this. However the night before we were to go to Estergrom this was cancelled so dissapointing. a letter was given offering a 50%discount for another tour but to be used 23/24 of course this is not possible as we live Australia, it will be years before we can afford to fly to Europe again. In regards to actual cruise, it was good, crew could speak English, but there is no or little information given in regards to how things work, no booklet or info screen on TV. In regards to other information it was hard to keep up with changes, if you didn't hear loudspeaker, which is not in your room, or able to be heard on sundeck clearly, you are missing out on vital information. There was supposed to be a special wine region dinner on the Thursday night, no information given in messages and required min of 6 people, we were the only ones who booked as we found out about it by accident and I don't think anyone else was aware of it so cancelled as well. While we enjoyed the cruise it was very dissapointing not to do the things we had expected to do. It was not about Vienna for us it was about Budapest and Krems/Melk which did not happen. We were not permitted to leave the boat at Krems unless you had booked a bike tour and with only 9 bikes, not enough spaces for 200 people. All we heard about was the amazing Wachau Valley and we, got to see nothing other than from cruising the river views. Not sure we would consider doing this cruise again. We were informed this was force magure, this was not force magure, there was no storm flooding etc. River water levels are controlled, this was poor planning and very dissapointing From conversations had, with other passengers, this often happens and most people were upset by this.Show moreA-ROSA commented on this reviewDear Geraldine, Thank you for going onboard with A-ROSA and taking your time to leave your comments. - Ehab· September 27th, 2023I have traveled with A-rosa "Donna" cruises in the danube river, Basic package, non panoramic, non balcony. and to be honest it does not even worth paying 100 euros. 1) The cruise is built in and suitable for German speaking although I booked for international or English speaking cruise, if you ask the staff in English they will answer you, but don't expect more than that. 2) The high rank staff was rude to us, the non German speaking tourists specifically, the hotel manager in particular was rude and condescending, for example, the window in my room can not be opened, when I pointed out that the ventilation is not working properly, and I suffer from very light asthma " which I didn't suffer from any asthma attack in the last 3 years until the first night in the room. when I pointed out to hotel manager he said to me" we are overbooked can't help you, the ventilation is working fine, we checked it", when I kept complaining about the issue he simply replied "if you don't like it pack your luggage and leave the ship" absolutely in that rude manner, so I slept while keeping the door of the room slightly opened for ventilation. 3) In general they don't like complaining in A-rosa cruise, simply they feel offended or something like that, another example, when I complained about keep changing dinning times, breakfasts, lunch, and dinner, the manager replied "we wrote it in English on the board you should read it daily", when I replied "no body informed that I should read the board daily", he replied "we announced in the megaphone" when I replied you didn't announce in English, he simply turned around while I am still standing and left. The funny thing is I thought I was the only one who missed the breakfast, but apparently a lot of non German speaking missed it. 4) The services in the ship is very low quality, for example, Wi-Fi is not available in the rooms only in the lobby, by extra charging 25 euros, although I enquired with A-rosa before booking, and they answered positively about availability of Wi-Fi, Even if you bought a carrier package most of the time you don't have signal on board. TV channels in the cabinet are all in Dutch, you have only 4 English news channels, Al Jazeera, CNN, BBC, FRANCE 24. 5) Room service is available every two days, not daily, even towels changing , asking for extra towels was utterly refused. 6) The cruise is built for 65+ German speaking people, and I emphasize non German won't feel at home, but your money is welcome, the ship is dead no activities almost at all, the sun deck is closed most of the time, the coffee bar close at 11:00 PM, tje lounge bar at 12:00, but good luck finding somebody after 11:00 pm, for example, when we docked at vienna there was a lot of other cruising ships around us from different companies , almost all of them at 11:30 were partying while our ship was dark, and sleeping even the reception was empty. 7) The room is so small but bearable, you have only one electric socket wish is very far away for the bed, good luck charging your phone and tablet, or if you have partner good luck both of you charging the phone. 8) Everything they offer for extra charge, you want extra towels extra charge, Wi-Fi extra charge, drinks extra charge, even tables dinning are reserved for extra charge, so good luck dinning near the windows, the food is the same itenarry every day, consist mainly of pork meet. 9) If haven't booked there excursions trips, which I didn't since all the excursions built for the elderly people. what's annoying is everything built around the excursions, and people who haven't booked will find very difficult to travel around in the cities effectively, the dining times change to accommodate the excursions. 10) Just to clarify I did not continue the cruise till the end of it, I quit 3 days before its end, since it was so boring, and dose not worth it, and I preferred to utilize the days left in my vacation in a better way. Although I did lost a lot of money in this decision. 11) I sent an email complaining to A-rosa service centers by email, still waiting for a reply. The only good thing about the cruise was, the lower staff, they were very nice and helpful, as they can. I could go on and on about how much boring the cruise with A-rosa, but in the end it is not recommended not even for a penny, save your money or use different company.Show moreA-ROSA commented on this reviewDear Ehab, Thank you for going onboard with A-ROSA and taking your time to leave your comments. - Marvee· July 19th, 2023I would not take another trip with A Rosa. In short, this cruise should be marketed as a "German" language tour. (Other reviews have stated the same.) On our cruise, the cruise director did translate many announcements to English, there were several he did not, thus leaving us worried if we missed something...and we did. Also, the majority of printed material is in German. And we were told it was difficult to get English speaking local tour guides in some cities, like Vienna, and thus all the excursion info was in German. (But we did get a discount for these excursions.) There were at least 14 or more English only speakers onboard. As the cruise was marketed as "English" language, this was the expectation. Food- fair at best. After 8:30 pm not a thing to eat onboard. Found the food lacking flavor and variety. Onboard entertainment- very minimal. A "DJ" in the lounge most nights till 11:30pm. A few nights of bingo, in German, and a puzzle for the passengers to put together. Excursions- besides the language issue...good excursions. Crew- there were a handful of crew members that were great. Big kudos to Lora and Reuben for great service. The bartender in the lounge was not friendly. He acted as if customers were disturbing him from his "other duties", such as washing glasses. There was a woman, one night only, at the reception area that was rude and disrespectful. She literally yelled at me. We had to visit the desk 6 or more times as our keys were not working in our cabin. I told her at this point, I think it may be the lock not all the keys as this was my 4th trip to the desk (at that time.) Her reply "Many guests have had to come to the desk more often." Hmm...ok. The other women at the reception desk were nice and helpful as they could be. Ship- clean, bit dated, a little warm. (The heatwave in Europe probably impacted the comfort level onboard. The AC in our room worked well.) There were a few odd situations, like we couldn't port in Bratislava nor back in Engelhartzell at the end of the cruise, but the cruise director did come up with fast work arounds. (We ended up in Bratislava for only 2.5 hours and 4 hours of bussing.) Overall, we made the best of the situation by enjoying the wonderful views and land excursions.Show moreA-ROSA commented on this reviewDear Marvee, We are sorry to hear that your cruise experience did not meet your expectation.
