Itinerary
- Day 1
Cusco to Machu Picchu
Your hotel pickup comes at 4:00 am for the drive to Ollantaytambo, so you'll want to be ready early. Once there, you'll board a scenic train that takes about 1.5 hours cutting through the Peruvian Andes and cloud forest, following the Urubamba river the whole way down to Aguas Calientes. After arriving in town, you'll have some free time to walk around and grab lunch if you want. Then it's a 30-minute bus ride up to Machu Picchu. A guide will take you through a 3-hour tour of the citadel and explain the history and layout, so you'll really understand what you're looking at. After that, you get time on your own to wander around and take photos before heading back to Cusco by evening.
