Itinerary
- Day 1
Mullangu
You'll arrive in Mullangu, a small town sitting about 60 kilometers north of Glasgow. Spend time walking through the pedestrian zone in the town center and grab any last-minute supplies you might need for the hiking days coming up. This is your chance to stock up on essentials before heading into more remote areas.

- Day 2
Mullangu to Drymen
From Mullangu, you'll hike out through quiet forests as the landscape gradually shifts toward the Highlands. Along the way, the Glengoyne Distillery comes up as a good stopping point where you can taste whiskey and see how Scottish whisky gets made. By evening, you'll reach Drymen, which serves as your last major town before the trail gets more remote.

- Day 3
Drymen to Balmaha
This morning starts with climbing Conic Hill, where you get views across Loch Lomond, Scotland's largest lake. After descending to Balmaha, you'll notice civilization pretty much ends here. From there, narrow footpaths take you along the eastern shore of Loch Lomond, making for a beautiful and scenic hiking day with plenty of varied terrain.

Balmaha to Inversnaid
You'll experience one of the most striking sections of the West Highland Way today. Hike on forest roads toward the waterfall at Inversnaid, and then continue along the shore with nice terrain and views of small islands scattered across the water. As you make your way through this scenic section, you'll pass the hideout where bandit Rob Roy once stayed.

Inversnaid to Kingshouse
A morning transfer brings you to Bridge of Orchy. From there, follow an old military road past countless deep black lochs deeper into the Scottish Highlands. You'll even pass a small ski resort before reaching Kingshouse, a former trading post that marks your destination for the day.

- Day 6
Kingshouse to Kinlochleven
Today's hike takes you past Buachaille Etive Mòr, probably Scotland's most dramatic peak. Later, you'll reach the famous Devil's Staircase, named for the numerous switchbacks that soldiers crossing it found so challenging. After descending into a small valley with great views of surrounding peaks, you'll finish in Kinlochleven where civilization returns after days in untouched terrain.

Kinlochleven to Fort William
The final stage follows an old military road to a plateau, then through quiet woods past the ruins of a small fort. As you continue on, Ben Nevis comes into view, and you'll descend into Fort William to complete this iconic hike.
