Itinerary
- Day 1
Stühlingen
You'll make your own way to Stühlingen to kick off your hiking week. This is your travel day to reach the starting point, so timing depends on where you're coming from. Once you arrive, you can settle into your accommodation and prepare for the trail ahead.

- Day 2
Stühlingen to Blumberg
Your hiking week begins at Hohenlupfen Castle with views overlooking Stühlingen. From there, you'll follow the Wutach River through the eastern Wutach Gorge, where the landscape gets pretty wild with gnarled trees, giant ferns, and steep rock faces around you. The trail takes you down to Blumberg by day's end.

Blumberg to Löffingen
You'll spend the day hiking through Wutach Gorge on narrow winding paths that run alongside the river. It's quite a sight watching the water disappear into underground passages and then reappear further downstream. The terrain gets easier as you approach Schattenm\u200bhle, a small country inn where you can grab refreshments. From there, catch the hiking bus to your accommodation in Löffingen. Total hiking time is about 4 to 5 hours depending on your pace.

Landmarks Wutach Gorge Schattenmühle - Day 4
Schattenmühle to Fischbach
In the morning, take the hiking bus back to Schattenm\u200bhle and start climbing toward higher elevation. You'll pass by the ruins of Räuberschlössle and then head into Haslachschlucht gorge. The path gets steeper and windier as you work your way out of the gorge, but once you reach Lenzkirch, the landscape opens up considerably. From there, continue to the small village of Oberfischbach where you'll settle for the evening. Plan on about 5 to 6 hours of hiking today.

- Day 5
Schluchsee to St. Blasien
This day involves rolling hills with the Schluchsee visible in the distance. You'll climb steadily up to Krummenkreuz, the highest point on your entire route. From there, it's a descent through Bannwald gorge on rocky terrain and small bridges until you reach St. Blasien.

- Day 6
St. Blasien to Todtmoos
Another tough climb takes you up Lehenkopf where you get views of St. Blasien's cathedral, then on toward Dachsberg. After that, you'll drop down into Hotzenwald, walking past mountain meadows and heather fields with farmhouses dotting the landscape. You'll cross through Hochwehra gorge to finish in Todtmoos.

Todtmoos to Wehr
You'll hike through Wehraschlucht gorge, which serves as the final stretch of your Schluchtensteig route. A few kilometers in, you'll reach Mettlerhütte where the Swiss Alps peaks come into view. The trail wraps up at the castle park in Wehr.

Departure
After breakfast, you'll head home on your own schedule. This is your departure day, so you can pack up and begin your journey back whenever works best for you.
