- Day 1
Athens
You'll get picked up at Athens Airport or Piraeus Port and head to your hotel to check in. The rest of the afternoon is yours to relax after traveling or get out and see the city. Syntagma Square is worth walking through, and you've got shopping options in Kolonaki or along Ermou Street. Plaka's old streets are nice for wandering around too, with local shops and souvenir vendors tucked into every corner.

Athens to Nafplion
After 09:00 am, pick up your rental car from downtown Athens and drive toward Nemea. You'll stop at Corinth Canal on the way, then visit local wineries including Skouras for wine tasting. Next, check out the Silo Art gallery where you can meet working artists. Walk through ancient Mycenae and see the Tomb of Agamemnon before heading to Nafplion for the evening and checking into your hotel.

Nafplion to Sparta
After breakfast, head out to see Nafplion's two castles, Akronafplia and Palamidi (the island castle). From there, drive to Sparta town and visit the Museum of the Olive and Greek Olive Oil to learn about olive production methods and history. Check in at your hotel and spend the rest of your day exploring at your own pace, learning about Sparta's legendary past.

Sparta to Monemvasia
Following breakfast, drive to Mystras to see the Byzantine castle from the 14th century, built in an amphitheater shape around the fortress with medieval ruins spread across the landscape. Later, continue to Monemvasia, a large rock island off the east coast, where you can explore castles, fortress ruins, and the Church of Agia Sophia perched on a cliff. Check in at your hotel and relax for the remainder of the day.

Monemvasia to Gytheio
Have breakfast and then drive to Pyrgos Dirou to explore the cave complex with stalactites and stalagmites from the Neolithic period. The tour takes a circular route, and the 2,800-meter section winds through the largest sea cave in Greece entirely by boat, so you'll travel through water the whole way.

Gytheio to Kalamata
After breakfast, drive toward Kalamata and pass through Stoupa beach, a quiet spot with a wide bay and long sandy shore where you can swim if you feel like it. Continue into Kalamata itself, which has a lively atmosphere with a long beach, restaurants, shops, and nightlife. Spend time on the palm-lined main promenade or wander through Amfia alley with its tiny boutiques, and catch a sunset over the water.

Kalamata to Athens
Have a relaxed breakfast at your hotel, then before leaving Kalamata, visit Nestor's Palace, one of Greece's best-preserved Mycenaean palaces. Walk through the ancient walls to see the throne room with its circular hearth, clay bath, and storage rooms filled with jars, plus the decorative frescoes. After that, drive back to Athens Airport to return your rental car and head to your flight. An evening flight or staying overnight in Athens afterward works well.
