Itinerary
- Day 1
Porto
You'll arrive in Porto and get picked up at the airport for the drive to your hotel. After you settle in, spend the rest of the day relaxing and getting your bearings. It's a good chance to shake off travel fatigue and maybe take a short walk around your hotel area if you feel up to it.
- Day 2
Porto
This morning starts with a walking tour of Porto's old center at Avenida dos Aliados. You'll stop by São Bento Train Station to see its historic tile work, then head to Porto Cathedral and the Fernandina Wall for some views over the city. After that, a coach takes you across to Vila Nova de Gaia where you'll spend time in a Port wine cellar and do three tastings. You'll take a rabelo boat down the Douro River, then visit Foz do Douro and Castelo do Queijo by the water before passing through Boavista on your way back downtown.

Braga
Meet your guide near São Bento Train Station for a full day heading into the Minho region. You'll drive to Guimarães, known as the birthplace of Portugal, where you can walk through the medieval castle and UNESCO site there. Later you'll get to Braga, one of Portugal's oldest Christian cities, with free time around lunch (you'll need to cover that yourself). Before heading back to Porto, you'll see the cathedral, wander the historical center, and visit Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary up in the hills.

Douro Valley Wine Region
Your Douro Valley tour heads out from Porto into the wine region, which is a UNESCO site. You'll stop at various points along the way for views, then visit a winery in Pinhão for three wine tastings. After that comes a 45-minute boat ride on the Douro River to take in the scenery. You'll then get to another winery like Quinta da Roeda or Quinta São Luiz for three more tastings while you're surrounded by the vineyards, and then it's back to Porto by evening.

Coimbra
You'll start at Fátima, Portugal's main religious site and a major pilgrimage destination for Catholics. There you can see the Sanctuary, Basilica, and Chapel of the Apparitions, which marks where the Virgin Mary reportedly appeared to three shepherd children back in 1917. After free time for lunch (on your own), you'll drive to Coimbra to explore one of the world's oldest universities, founded in the 1300s. The afternoon has you walking through narrow streets, checking out Roman ruins, and taking in the historical center, including the Quebra-Costas staircase and older neighborhoods.

Porto to Lisbon
Your driver-guide will get you to Porto train station for your train ride down to Lisbon. When you arrive, a private transfer picks you up and takes you to your hotel in Lisbon so you can get settled in.

Lisbon
Meet your guide in the city center to start exploring Lisbon, which sits on seven hills and has lots of historic spots and neighborhoods to see. You'll visit significant landmarks along the Tagus River that connect to Portugal's seafaring past, and get to one of the city's interesting museums. Then you'll walk through the busy commercial district. By evening you'll have time to relax and soak in the atmosphere.

Cascais - Lisbon
Head to Sintra, a UNESCO Heritage Site, for a guided look at Pena Palace's outside with entry included. You'll explore the gardens, check out the royal family interpretive center, and enjoy views from courtyards and balconies around the property. After visiting the chapel and walking the Caminho de Ronda path with its views, you'll have free time in Sintra's old town center to wander around, shop, or grab lunch (you'll pay for this). On the way back to Lisbon, stop in seaside Cascais to relax on the beach or see the historic part. Back in Lisbon, you'll get a panoramic tour of Belém with Belém Tower, Monument to the Discoveries, Jerónimos Monastery, and a Pastéis de Belém tasting, ending with a look at the city center landmarks.
