- SSSandra· December 10th, 2023Our CIE Tour was incredible! David, our guide did a fantastic job planning our day with only 5 hours of daylight to utilize. Iceland was so beautiful it was breathtaking! We went in the winter to see the Northern lights and feel so luck to see them multiple times. I would like to go back in the summer and do the tour around the whole country. I would highly recommend CIE Tours.Show moreTrip date: December 2023

- AKevin Flynn· February 26th, 2023CIE was recommended to us by a family member a couple of years ago & this was our very first tour ever. Other than wanting to see the Northern Lights, we didn't really know what else to expect. That being said, we enjoyed our trip and learned a lot about the people and the country. Iceland is a very interesting place, especially in wintertime. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights. However with the naked eye, they are somewhat underwhelming. People with good cameras were taking pictures that revealed more vibrant colors. It was still a wonderful phenomena to experience. We only had one CIE negative. Our CIE arranged driver who was to take us to the airport for our return flight was a no-show. We called the CIE office, but no one answered. A cab cost us $121.42 which we are going to address with CIE about reimbursement in the near future.Show moreTrip date: February 2023Review collected by CIE Tours

- AKimberly Layton· March 21st, 2023The absolute best vacation I could ever have imagined! I planned to visit Iceland for my 50th birthday and specifically wanted to see the Northern Lights. CIE provided several opportunities for us to catch the lights during the entire week! We were very fortunate to catch them the very first night we arrived! The tour bus that picked us up that night brought us to the national park and helped educate our group on how to watch them, how to photograph them and what to look for in the night sky. I felt so lucky that night - my birthday night - to see the beautiful lights and magical evening. Couldn’t have been better! I saw just about everything on my list that I wanted to see in Iceland! CIE took us to every site on my list and was amazing along the way! Our tour guide Maria was the absolute BEST and took very good care of us and worked hard to make our experiences the very best they could be each and every day! We toured Reykjavík (saw the Höfdi house, Viking sun sculpture, famous hot dog stand, stayed at the beautiful Fosshotel Reykjavik), drove to the Reynisfjara black sand beach, city of Vik, Diamond Beach, we even saw Iceland ponies!!, Glacier Lagoon, Waterfalls, and the most wonderful lunch at the Fridheimer tomato farm! That was my favorite! I was not looking forward to the Lava center but it ended up being one of my favorite stops! FANTASTIC!! Secret Lagoon was wonderful and happy I got to visit it and we loved every minute at Blue Lagoon. All of the hotels chosen were wonderful, beautiful and absolutely amazing. We loved it ALL! And CIE made it so easy to move from hotel to hotel, they were with us for the transfers to/from airport and we were just so happy not to have to drive in the weather. It was all arranged for us and gave us the time to just to sit back and relax and enjoy the beautiful land!Show moreTrip date: March 2023Review collected by CIE Tours
- ARobert Senkewicz· March 21st, 2023The tour was great. We saw so much of the island in a very short period of time. My only reservation that kept this from being 5 stars was the limited time at each place so we could keep to our schedule. I wish we had more time at each stop but it was only 6 days...Show moreTrip date: March 2023Review collected by CIE Tours

- CRChristine· March 17th, 2022Just because I rated it "Excellent" doesn't necessarily mean we fully enjoyed the tour. Despite being billed as "for everyone 9 to 99", we found it to be fast-paced, rigorous at times, and just plain tiring. We are not 99 (!) but still, it was hard to keep up at times. Not a complaint about the tour, but the weather was pretty crappy all but one day, with rain, sleet, snow, you name it and all in each day! We were only able to view the Northern Lights on one occasion when it was clear, and found you couldn't actually SEE them with the naked eye but only with a camera set for a 7-second timing. More preparatory info on that would have made our experience more rewarding; we would have been better equipped. Now, here's what DID add to the Excellent rating. I suffered a medical emergency on Monday morning, and Tour Director Maria and Driver Pully (sp?) were so helpful and caring and made the experience not as awful as it might have otherwise been. The tour bus drove me to the hospital! They kept in touch and welcomed the husband and I back to the tour on Tuesday evening; even directed us to a driver who'd make the 4+ hour drive to the place where the tour was lodging that night. I will never forget the kindness of the tour staff for all that. Would we go again? It's a trade-off -- better weather and no Northern Lights, or crappy weather and maybe a chance to see the Lights. I can't answer that right now, but I do know it was an experience we'll long remember!Show moreCIE Tours commented on this reviewThanks for your feedbackTrip date: March 2022

Asked on September 11th, 2024How much walking is involved? Is there much?
- CIE ToursOperator•Written September 2024
There will be walking involved and the terrain may be uneven and slippery. It will vary each day as to how much some days will have more than others but there will be walking on this tour. If you need extra walking assistance, you may bring a walker or a lightweight, fully collapsible wheelchair that can be stowed in the luggage compartment. You must advise us in advance during the booking process that you will be using a wheelchair or other medical equipment and must also travel with a companion who can push the wheelchair.

Asked on September 14th, 2023My mother and I are looking to book this trip to hopefully see the northern lights. She is 84 and in pretty good shape. It says trip is up to age 99 and I was just wondering how strenuous it would be. She walks regularly for exercise but I was wondering how far is the walking/hiking to see sights. Also is it large elevation changes to hike up?
- CIE ToursOperator•Written September 2023
This tour may be difficult for them. All of our tours have some aspect of walking, steps and uneven surfaces. They can absolutely bring a wheelchair or walker however must be lightweight and fully collapsible. They must also travel with a companion who can push the wheelchair if needed. Please note, there will be terrain in Iceland that a wheelchair may not be suitable for, and it would have to be pushed. They also must be able to climb on and off the coach unaided. The coach steps are about a foot off the ground for the first step and there is no alternative but for clients to be able to take these steps unassisted.
