- HBHannah· April 25th, 2022I had an amazing time on my trek to Annapurna Base Camp. Coming just after Covid restrictions were lifted meant that not many tourists were back in the country and the treks were relatively empty and the guest houses very pleased to welcome me back. The views were splendid. Generally the walk was doable with a basic fitness. The sections per day ranged from lovely long walk to strenuous. Part of my great experience was Ace the Himalaya. From before I booked they answered all my questions, helped my book additional things for my trip, accommodated me well (especially Thamel House in Kathmandu was absolutely lovely) and until the day I left were always there for me. Thanks a lot! Even though I was the only one that booked the tour they still ran it and I had the luxury of having a guide and a porter all to myself! I was so pleased that the tour was not canceled and had a blast with my team. Surya, my guide, was always in the best mood and gifted every day with smiles and laughter. He was always around and looking after me, making sure I feel well and have everything I need. His cousin Bishal was my porter and was absolutely excellent at spotting animals (he spotted a group of monkeys, kingfisher,...). He also took up some additional responsibilities to prepare becoming a guide some time himself. I am sure he'll succeed. Thanks to the 2 of them I had the time of my life (and was probably spoiled like a princess)! Also big thanks to Dil, my tour guide in Kathmandu, with whom I spend an amazing day. He knew everything about the culture and history and I absolutely enjoyed my day in the crazy city of Kathmandu. Big thank you to Ace the Himalaya, the team (in particular Surya and Bishal). Can only recommend booking with them!!! I seriously have no complaints.Show moreTrip date: April 2022
- Geraldine· January 15th, 2019Traveling with Ace was a fantastic experience! We did the 14 day Annapurna Base Camp trek with our guide Resham and porters, Dhan and Gunjan. Resham was awesome - thoughtful, knowledgeable, and attentive. He and our porters made sure we were well taken care of and comfortable at all times. The days were challenging, but balanced and rewarding. We felt that everyday had something new and exciting to offer without being overwhelming or exhausting. It was an amazing experience and we highly recommend it to anyone interested in Nepal and the Himalayas.Show moreAce the Himalaya commented on this reviewHi Geraldine, thank you for the wonderful review. - JJocelyn· October 28th, 2016I have traveled all over the world and Ace the Himalaya was incredible from the second I landed in Nepal until the moment I left. The office was extremely helpful and changes had to be made and they did not miss a beat. My guide Nima was amazing. All the people we met along the way said I was so lucky to have my guide. He took better care of me then any boyfriend I ever had and was always so nice to all the staff where we stayed at as well as to people along the way.Show moreTrip date: March 2014

It was one of the most incredible trips I have every been on. I have been hiking for 35 years and this is at the top of the list. I couldn't have asked for it to been any better. The Ace does a great job and our trekking guide Suman was the best. My 14 year old daughter, my husband and I wanted to say thanks. - JBJenny· October 27th, 2016My first ever trekking experience was with Ace the Himalaya in 2008. It was both the hardest and most rewarding thing I have done and I have many good memories of my time in Nepal. I cannot speak highly enough of our guide and porters who took such good care of us. Their attention to detail left nothing to chance all of which was overseen by the Director of the Company. I would have no hesitation in recommending Ace the Himalaya for your next adventure experience.Show moreTrip date: March 2012
- AAnonymous· May 15th, 2014“Fantastic trekking in Annapurna region” Trekking in Nepal has been a long time dream of mine - and this dream came exactly true. I did a 10 days trekking to the Annapurna Base Camp as solo female trekker and it was a perfect experience. Transportation was smooth, the daily amount of walking, food places as well as the lodges were carefully selected. With my guide, I felt in good hands all the time and I appreciated the insights into culture and people conveyed in very good English so that conversation was very easy. Thank you, Kumar, for this wonderful trekking holiday and taking good care of me! I can recommend ACE to anyone without any limitations. Patrizia W Bangkok, ThailandShow moreTrip date: April 2014

Asked on January 31st, 2023is insurance mandatory? why insurance is required? what are the emergencies covered? is air evacuation included? if some body falls sick during trek will insurance cover the same. should we come with the insurance or it should only be taken in Nepal
- Ace the HimalayaOperator•Written January 2023
Yes, travel insurance is mandatory for trekking in Annapurna Base Camp. Insurance is necessary to cover additional costs in the event of a flight delay or cancellation caused by bad weather, medical costs, theft, loss, and damage to your items while traveling. We require your policy to have medical evacuation coverage for the maximum elevation of your itinerary. As for air evacuation, we recommended you have travel insurance that has helicopter rescue covered up to 4,500m altitude for this trip. Travel insurance can be obtained online by one of several travel insurance companies. Most of our clients purchase travel insurance from World Nomads. They offer Standard and Explorer plans and we recommend you buy the Explorer one which covers all the aspects of your trip including emergency helicopter evacuation. The other popular travel insurance companies are Global Rescue, Travel Guard, Europe Assistance, etc. Please note that insurance obtained from an airline at the time of booking your flight may not cover medical evacuation coverage.

Asked on May 23rd, 2017What is the weather & temperature like in trekking?
- D
Dale
Traveler•Written May 2017Every trekking trip up to the mighty Annapurna presents its own amazing, unforgettable moments that live forever in the hearts and minds of those brave enough to make the climb. One of the most unpredictable elements of the Annapurna region is the weather. If you’re not properly prepared for the twists, turns and volatility of the conditions that occur in this breathtaking region, you might find yourself in an uncomfortable and unpleasant situation. Here are some weather basics to help you ensure that you come to the Himalayas, well equipped and with preparation to face anything.
Generally speaking, the nights are much cooler than the daytime in the Annapurna region. Many first-time trekkers are surprised to learn about the incredible range that may occur in a given day. Above 3500 meters, during the day, the thermometer could reach as high as 25 degrees C, only to dip down as low as -15 degrees C in less than 24 hours. While there’s no way to know exactly what each day in the mountains will bring, the weather and temperature ranges tend to be somewhat predictable based on the months and seasons.
Spring – March / April / May / June
Spring happens to be one of the best times of the year to visit the Annapurna, although it can become somewhat crowded. The beautiful clear blue sky can be seen, as well as different species of flowers in the lower altitude.
During springtime, the average temperature is 20 degrees C with a maximum of 25 degrees C and a minimum of -5 degrees C in the morning and for areas above 4000 meters at night.
July / August to Mid-September is Monsoon Season
This season is not really recommended to travel as it rains in the lower altitudes, below 3500 meters. In areas above 4000 meters, it rains sometimes and although it is also sometimes dry, very few people travel during this season. The excess rainfall can provide ample chance to see spectacular views of the waterfall and it is also the best season to avoid the crowds. The maximum temperature during the monsoon season averages 30 degrees C during sunny days with a minimum -5 degrees C in the morning and at areas above 4000 meters at night. The average temperature tends to hover around a comfortable 22 degrees C.
Autumn – End of September / October / November
Similar to springtime, autumn is also crowded in the Annapurna region, but it’s one of the best times to trek. While it lacks the beauty of flowers, the clear blue sky can be seen, including the incredible views from the trail.
Winter – December/January/February
Cold and less crowded season. The average temperature during the fall is 15 degrees C with a maximum temp of 20 degrees C during sunny days and a minimum of -15 degrees C in the morning and at night, for areas above 4000 meters altitude.
Regardless of time of year, trekkers should always plan accordingly and bring clothing for both cooler and warmer temps. Layering is always recommended, as are pants that can double as shorts. For a full list of clothing and materials to bring to account for various temperatures and weather changes that can occur in the Annapurna region, trekkers should work closely with their travel provider. This will ensure that the adventure will be enjoyable no matter what the weather is, and there is every possible scenario to be taken into account.
