Excellent experience and service The three of us had an excellent trekking to ABC via Destination Unlimited. From the beginning until the end Ashok (the owner) provided excellent service, very clear and fast communication and perfectly managed the expectations. We would definitely recommend this agency and trip. Also due to the friendly, funny and helpful guide Hari and porters Ira and Raam.

Nice group, very friendly guides. Only the second day was little bit boring since trekking was only around 4 hours and we arrived at the teahouse already around 1pm. So there was nothing to do then killing time...
Annapurna Base Camp Trek (from Kathmandu to Machhapuchhare) - R

This tour was superb. I booked with slight trepidation as there are so many companies to choose from, but these guys were great. They picked me up and dropped me to the airport so my entire stay I was looked after. The hotel accommodation in Kathmandu and Pokhara were very good, being central yet both were a quiet little oasis. I decided to fly back to Kathmandu as the road is in bad shape presently, and this was no trouble and they arranged this and someone to collect me from the airport. My guide was simply amazing. So caring and friendly. He genuinely wanted me to be happy. For example on one day I mentioned I was craving fruit and that evening fruit suddenly appeared. He encouraged me to stop for photos and basically made sure it felt like my holiday and to be taken at my own pace. For a few months of the year the descent from ABC is icy and slippery if it has snowed and people have already trodden the path, but Surya lent me his crampons and I was able to walk down quickly and effortlessly. The company genuinely are open to altering the itineraries so and are not offering this to make more money, but just to make sure you are happy, so can make the days longer if you like, or add a stop in Chitwan and no real significant cost. In hindsight, as someone who is happy doing 6 hour day walks in the UK, the itinerary I did could have been done two days quicker, for example. What was really nice is having the meals (a la carte from the menu in each tea house) included as these are not an insignificant cost these days, and it was nice not to have to worry about having to pay and carry so much cash etc. And the odd extra masala tea or cup of raksi was included too, such that the guide really made me feel snug when we arrived at each tea house, and pushed to get me the best rooms with views too. Pradip, the manager, knew I had not made use of my guide for half a day elsewhere so on my last day even arranged for a guide to take me on a short excursion to the monkey temple in Kathmandu, which was very sweet of him. All in all this was a superb trip, and I genuinely feel this company is excellent. (I say this having travelled on at least twenty treks in my life with companies such as Exodus, Explore, G adventures, Trek Adventures etc

Best time to visit Annapurna Base Camp
- Winter 2025 / 2026
Winter brings a different side to Annapurna Base Camp with fewer people on the trails and sharp, clear views of the peaks. Most visitors join our 10-12 day routes that mix cultural time in Kathmandu with snowy trekking days. People really like starting at Pashupatinath Temple and Bouddhanath Stupa before heading into the mountains. We build in extra weather days during winter and often stay in Gurung villages where you can chat with locals around the warmth of traditional fires. Our guides carry oxygen and additional safety equipment - something our trekkers tell us helps them feel more secure in the winter conditions.

- Spring 2026
The trails come alive in spring when rhododendrons paint the hillsides and walking conditions are just right. Our spring treks run anywhere from 8 to 15 days, though most people go for the tried and tested 12-day path through Ghorepani and Poon Hill. You'll find the routes full of energy as people make their way through thick bamboo forests and mountain communities. Our customers often mention how well the guides manage the daily rhythm - keeping a good pace but taking time for flower photos and mountain shots. The highlight for many is joining other trekkers for sunrise on Poon Hill, watching the first rays touch Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri and all the Annapurna peaks.

- Summer 2026
Summer opens up special possibilities for combining Annapurna Base Camp treks with rafting adventures, and our seasonal offerings make the most of the warmer weather. We start many summer trips with an active day on the Trishuli River, before heading up into the mountains. The paths meander through dense bamboo forests, rhododendron groves and shaded sections that provide natural cooling during peak temperatures. Our guides excel at working with summer conditions, scheduling early departures to catch pristine morning views, and adapting the walking pace when afternoons heat up. Travelers often mention how much they enjoy the teahouse stays, particularly in Dovan and Deurali, where higher elevations bring pleasant nighttime temperatures. The Jhinu Danda hot springs become a perfect spot for soothing tired muscles, and our guests frequently tell us it's the best part of their summer journey. We build extra days into most summer itineraries, giving our guides flexibility to work around weather patterns and allowing trekkers proper time to adjust as they make their way toward base camp.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Fall brings reliable weather and the clearest mountain views of the year. Most people choose our classic autumn route through Ulleri and Ghorepani, taking 10-14 days to reach base camp. The natural hot springs near Jhinu Danda are perfect this time of year - our trekkers love taking a long soak after days on the trail. We usually wrap up fall treks with extra time in Pokhara, giving you space to unwind by the lake and take in what you've achieved. The trails get busy in autumn, but our travelers consistently praise how well the guides handle the crowds while sharing their deep knowledge of local traditions. Looking at the trek options in Nepal, Himalayan Social Journey stands out with their Nepal Tour package that includes both an Everest flight and Annapurna helicopter ride - our travelers particularly like their hotel selections and how smoothly everything runs. If you're considering the classic Annapurna Base Camp Trek, you might want to skip Intrepid Travel's version. While their guides are reliable and the route planning is solid, we've heard from multiple customers about issues with the meal options and questions about whether the price matches what you get. For a really well-executed Annapurna Base Camp experience, both Sherpa Expedition Teams and Uma Holidays consistently deliver excellent treks. Their guides are proper experts who know the routes inside out, keep a close eye on safety and give you lots of interesting local context along the way. What makes these companies work so well is how their guides handle everything from altitude adjustments to weather changes, making sure you can focus on the actual trekking experience. They've got the logistics down to a science but keep things flexible enough to adjust when needed. What's particularly good about Uma Holidays and Sherpa Expedition is how their guides blend technical expertise with genuine care for their trekkers - they're always ready with practical tips, cultural insights and also emergency backup if needed.

What's it like to trek Annapurna Base Camp as a beginner?
If you're new to trekking Annapurna Base Camp is actually quite doable. It's moderately challenging reaching 4130m but don't let that worry you too much - it's actually easier than Everest Base Camp with lower elevation and shorter duration so you won't need as much time to adjust to the altitude. The 14-day trek includes some great stops like the hot springs near Jhinu Danda and most first-time trekkers manage it really well.
What local communities will I meet and how can I respect their culture?
You'll pass through these amazing Gurung villages like Ghandruk and Chomrong where the locals are incredibly welcoming. Learning a few basic Nepali phrases goes a long way and always ask before taking photos of people. The area's really special to Gurung culture so being respectful around temples and sacred places matters a lot. Supporting local craft shops is great too - you'll find some beautiful handicrafts and it helps the community directly.
