Customer Reviews
- Ralph· September 13th, 2017Despite how badly things started, our tour turned out to be excellent. First of all we were told we were getting a voucher for the airport bus pick up and never received it in the email. Fortunately, our name was on a list and the Fly bus people graciously gave us tickets without the voucher. Then when we went to join our Bamba Experience tour at the bus stop, there was no Bamba Experience tour bus. Apparently, Bamba transferred our seats to another tour operator who was leading a tour of combined Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and English tourists and didn't bother to tell us. Fortunately for us, the tour leader didn't leave without us and called out our names eventually. Our tour company was listed as miscellaneous on his sheet of customers. It was little bit annoying that instead of the English speaking tour leader we were promised, we got consecutive translations, often getting the English part after whatever was being described was long gone. However, the tour leader was very knowledgeable and although it was difficult to communicate with the other members of the tour at times, we did manage to share experiences and stories as best we could. The tour locations were magnificent but we had one other complaint. This tour was listed as being suitable for ages 18 to 99 but I doubt whether many older people could have managed.Show more
- Nina· November 12th, 2024The planning was fantastic, we saw and did a tremendous amount. It was a hassle-free trip with a lot of self-direction. The communication was perfect and very helpful.Show more
- Geoffrey· October 15th, 2022Would definitely use again. They did everything they said they would do and baggage and rooms were handled very well. No problemsShow more

Asked on April 8th, 2024I am seeking a demanding hiking experience in the wilderness having done the haute route last year and like the look of this and the volcanic trails, so wondered which you would recommend?
- P
Pat
Traveler•Written April 2024Would you be able to explain to me why this trip is more expensive than the Volcanic trails trip which is longer?
- P
Pat
Traveler•Written April 2024It says 3* hotels under accommodation and does this mean we get single rooms with private shower and loo facilities?
- Bamba TravelOperator•Written April 2024
For this tour, the accommodation is in mountain huts. The accommodations consist of shared huts with dormitories featuring single and twin bunk beds, so please be prepared to share a room with other travelers.
- P
Pat
Traveler•Written April 2024Do you think you could tell me a little bit about the accommodation and in particular the sleeping and bathroom facilities please. EG: Showers included? hot and cold water? Private or shared? Flushing loos? private or shared? private room or dormitory? own bed?
- P
Pat
Traveler•Written April 2024Is there any opportunity to enjoy hot spring bathing on the Laugavegur trail and or can you arrange for us to spend a day and extra night to enjoy hot springs, mud baths etc on 27th or 29th July depending on which date we travel?
- Bamba TravelOperator•Written April 2024
The hut provides basic shower facilities. However, due to the remote location, amenities like showers are limited and may incur an additional small fee to cover the cost of the geothermal hot water. There is access to both hot and cold water for washing and drinking. The bathrooms are typically shared. The huts are equipped with flushing toilets and are also shared among the guests. Accommodations are usually in a dormitory-style setting with shared sleeping quarters. You will have your own bed, but it will be in a room with other guests.

Asked on July 17th, 2023Can you please clarify the accommodation on the 4day/3 night tour? It says 3 star hotels but in the description it talks about huts. We are keen on private hotel rooms with ensuite bathroom. Any hiking holidays in Iceland that offer that? Huts with dormitories and no or shared facilities doesn't appeal. Keen to hear what you can offer.

Traveler•Written July 2023We're a couple and are thinking of visiting Iceland in June 2024. We like hiking but want decent accommodation.
- Bamba TravelOperator•Written July 2023
For this tour, it is Hut accommodation. Please find attached a photo of the types of huts. Let us know if you have any other questions.

For the pick-up we start at 7:00 till 9:15 (depending on the meeting point). For the return we will arrive back in Reykjavik at around 21:30. Drop off is available at Miklabraut 101 Orkan gas station, Reykjavik Campsite and at the City Hall. We don't organize airport pick-ups.

Traveler•Written July 2022Confirming there is availability of both starting in the 25th? Also confirming where is the pick up? Is it in Reykjavík?
- Bamba TravelOperator•Written July 2022
Yes, there is availability for both for the 25th of July. Both departs from ÍSAFJÖRÐUR.
- Bamba TravelOperator•Written July 2022
The 3-day tour in the Westfjords is 1,928 USD. The 3-Day tour in Hornstrandir Reserve is 1,778 USD.
- Bamba TravelOperator•Written July 2022
Regarding transfer from Reykjavík to ÍSAFJÖRÐUR, this can only be arranged on private basis. We recommend that you rent a car, that is the best option.
