Itinerary
- Day 1
Athens
You'll arrive at Athens airport or port and get transferred to your hotel for check-in. The afternoon and evening are free to explore at your own pace. Syntagma Square is worth a walk through, and you can shop along Ermou Street in the Kolonaki area if that interests you. Plaka's narrow streets have plenty of small shops and souvenir stands if you want to wander around and get a feel for the old town.

Delphi
After breakfast, you'll drive through the Beotia region, passing through Thebes and Levadia on the way. The route takes you through the mountain village of Arachova at the base of Mt. Parnassos before reaching Delphi. You'll visit the Sanctuary of Delphi and the Temple of Apollo, both UNESCO-listed sites. By evening, you'll head to Kalambaka, which sits right below the Meteora rock formations that you'll explore the next day.

Meteora - Thessaloniki
Start with breakfast at the hotel, then head out to the Meteora monasteries sitting atop those massive rock formations. The Eastern Orthodox monasteries have Byzantine art, frescoes, and manuscripts inside, plus the views from up there are hard to beat. Later, you'll drive through Thessaly and the Valley of Tempi, passing by Mount Olympus along the way. By evening you'll reach Thessaloniki.

Thessaloniki
After breakfast, you'll take a guided tour of Thessaloniki, Greece's second largest city. The tour covers the White Tower, Roman Forum, Ottoman Market, St. Demetrius' Church, the Byzantine Walls, the Palace and Arch of Galerius ruins, and the Rotunda with its Early-Christian mosaics. Once the tour wraps up, the rest of the day is yours to explore the lively city center on your own.

Macedonia Tour
After breakfast, you'll head out on a historical Macedonia tour with an English-speaking guide. First stop is Edessa to see the waterfalls, then on to Naoussa and the ruins where Aristotle's School once stood and taught Alexander the Great. The tour continues to the Aigai archaeological site in Vergina with its palace and over 300 royal tombs, including Philip II's burial. You'll also stop in Beroea to see the Bema of Saint Paul and walk through the old Jewish neighborhood and market. From there it's back to Thessaloniki by afternoon.

Pella - Dion - Thermopylae
After breakfast, you'll drive to Pella, the ancient Macedonian capital and Alexander the Great's birthplace. The Archaeological Museum there has 4th century B.C. villas with beautiful mosaic floors. From there, you'll head to the Archaeological Park of Dion at the foot of Mount Olympus, an open-air site with classical and religious artifacts scattered throughout. In the afternoon, you'll drive south through Thessaly and Lamia, stopping at Thermopylae to see the Leonidas Monument. You'll arrive back in Athens by late afternoon.

Athens
After breakfast at the hotel, you have the morning and early afternoon to explore Athens however you'd like. There's an optional half-day city tour available if you want to visit the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum, though it's not included in the package. At the scheduled time, you'll get transferred to Athens airport for your departure flight.
