We had a good trip with a FANTASTIC guide! Helpful, knowledgeable and thoughtful. However, I will not recommend this tour. The hotels are good but we could have been anywhere. No flavour of Morocco! Breakfast good but included dinner terrible for a vegetarian. We were a small group, could have eaten in a more authentic outside restaurant.Group consistently given restricted menu, with NO vegetarian main. One night only option small entre of mashed potato balls! There are many many hours of driving. Too much driving for the allotted time. No fine tuning of events. For example one morning we left for the sunrise and camel rides in 4 wheel drives. The destination was 30 minutes away! Wonderful experience but we drove past many closer hotels. Bus excellent, 65 seater for 11 people, the last few days 4 people. Morocco airport is a nightmare! Our return to the airport the driver was late, we caught a cab and only just made the flight! The organization in terms of the beach for the penultimate night was good. One night we went to a show with dinner and horses…….the four of us found it cringeworthy. We DID have a great time, great group, fantastic guide learned a lot, every question we asked Badar he knew dates , times, an amazing knowledge of history and geography. Was always positive about Morocco and proud of its people, history and achievements. You need local currency and can use Euros.

The tour was one of the best we have had. It was well laid our and planned, but there were a couple of glitches that the leader was able to handle and a main office which quickly able to handle, which could have been avoided (no water for a couple of days, and a problem with airport transfers which was quickly settled. The various cities and sites were fascinating. There is a lot of travel involved and a lot of sitting on the bus because the country is quite large and often empty. The tour leader, Mohammed, was very interesting and shed much light on the history and people, and kept us pretty much in line. The local guides were well chosen for their knowledge and ability to share it with the participants. The hotels were excellent and the fact that evening meals were included was a great boon. There was little opportunity for individual choice for lunch, but the restaurants where we stopped were well chosen and the food good, and not expensive. I recommend the tour.

My sister and I booked our Classic Morocco tour by Ciconia Travel on a site called Luxury Escapes. Whilst Morocco was fantastic, our coach, driver and tour guide were also good, the tour was certainly no “luxury escape” and was heavily let down by substandard hotels and food. The tour itself covers a lot of ground and we felt confident that we got a good taste of Morocco and what it was all about. The distances traveled however does mean quite some time on the coach, not a problem for me, but was for some. I raised concerns regarding one of our “5 star” hotels prior to departure as it had horrendous reviews on TripAdvisor. I was however assured by Ciconia that they’d received no complaints in the past and it was a good hotel. Unfortunately that wasn’t our experience. Musty halls, broken power points, spots on sheets, hair driers with wiring exposed, an horrendous experience being locked out of our room for over an hour after dinner (along with everyone else on our floor), it wasn’t great and certainly not a 5-star experience. We learnt to drop our expectations when it came to the hotels. Some were nicer than others but only one I’d class as 5-star (Ouazazate). Included dinners were set menus with the same fare, which when coupled with the same fare offered at our lunch stops meant we got pretty sick of cous cous, tagine or kebabs. It felt like we were dished up the same “tourist” menu everywhere we went and hence we dined elsewhere for a number of dinners where there was lots of variety and flavour. Our main guide was lovely, as were the guides at Volubilis and Rabat, but others were very long winded and sometimes strayed vastly off topic. Morocco itself was fantastic, we saw so much on this tour, but it would have been so much better with quality accommodation and food. I’d recommend checking out another your company and look closely at the independent hotel reviews before booking. Shakrun!

I just finished the Classic Morocco trip led by Bader and it was wonderful! The itinerary was well-planned and well-paced. Bader was incredibly knowledgeable and was able to answer all my questions about history and culture. He was also very humorous, which made the trip all the more enjoyable. Could not recommend him more!

I had a really great time on my first tour in Morocco and on my first trip with Ciconia. Our guide Badel took a genuine interest in our learning experience, and encouraged us to get out of our comfort zone and make the most of our Moroccan experience. Thank you so much Bader, and thank you Ciconia for making the trip so interesting .
