Itinerary
- Day 1
Nizwa
After breakfast, you'll head to Nizwa, which sits right in the heart of Oman's interior and has a lot of cultural significance. The Round Tower Fort from the 17th century is the main draw here, and it's definitely worth your time. From there, you can walk through the souq, which gets really busy especially on Fridays when the cattle auctions happen. You'll find hand-carved Khanjars and silver jewellery throughout the market stalls. Later, you'll drive to Jabrin Castle, considered one of Oman's finest examples of traditional architecture. Inside, the ceiling paintings and woodcarvings from the late 17th century are impressive and show real craftsmanship.

The day starts by driving through Wadi Nakhr, often compared to the Grand Canyon because of how dramatic it looks. You'll pass through a village known for colorful handmade goat-hair rugs, so there's a chance to stop and see the weavers if you're interested. Then it's time to climb up to Jebel Shams, Oman's highest peak at 3,010 meters/9,876 feet, where you can see the wadi spread out below from up there. Before heading back, you'll visit local weavers to watch how they work and stop at Misfit Al Arbein.

Wahiba Sands - Muscat
After breakfast, you'll head to Wadi Bani Khaled, one of Oman's largest wadis, and you'll have time for a refreshing swim in the water. From there, you continue on to the Wahiba Sands to experience the desert landscape properly. This involves dune-bashing in a 4x4 vehicle, which is actually a lot of fun, and you can also do some camel riding if that interests you. Later, you'll visit a local Bedouin family to learn about how they live out here and share traditional coffee and dates with them. After that, you head back to Muscat.
