Accra
You'll arrive in Accra and check into Best Western Plus Accra Beach. How your day unfolds depends on when you land and what you're in the mood for, so it's a good chance to settle in, grab a meal, and explore the immediate area around your hotel at your own pace.

Accra
This is a full day exploring Accra's key sites. You'll start at Independence Square and the Eternal Flame of Africa, then move through Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and Museum to learn about Ghana's independence history. The National Culture Centre comes next, where you can walk through the largest outdoor art and craft market in West Africa. Later, head to James Town to see the historic lighthouse built back in 1875, and finish by visiting Brazil House to learn about the Afro-Brazilian families who settled here starting in 1836.

Accra to Kumasi
You'll drive to Kumasi, the historic capital of the Ashanti kingdom. Once there, tour Manhiya Palace, which served as the official residence of Ashanti kings until 1974 and now functions as a museum. You'll see important pieces from the kingdom's history, including the Okomfo Sword, which represents the ultimate symbol of Ashanti unity and remains central to the culture.

Kumasi

By evening, head to Kumasi Central Market (Kejetia Market), the largest open-air market in West Africa, where you can browse and pick up any final items.

Kumasi to Cape Coast
You'll drive toward Cape Coast with stops along the way. First, you'll pass through Obuasi, a gold mine town, then reach Assin Manso, a burial site for slaves from the US and Jamaica. The Slave River visit follows, where you'll see where captured Africans were bathed before being taken to slavery castles. In the evening, a guided tour through Elmina shows you colorful fishing canoes getting ready for the night's fishing, which offers great opportunities for photography.

- Day 6
Cape Coast
You'll visit Elmina Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site dating back to 1482 as the first European structure built in sub-Saharan Africa. At midday, join a guided tour of Cape Coast Castle and its museum, where you'll learn about the 'Door of No Return' from which Africans were sent into slavery in the Americas. These sites carry significant historical weight and require time for reflection.

Cape Coast to Accra
Kakum National Park is your focus today. After a short walk through the forest floor, you'll spot birds, butterflies, and various mammal species including monkeys and forest elephants. The main event is the canopy walk, a 1000-foot long walkway featuring seven bridges suspended at heights of 150 feet above the ground. On your return to Accra, you'll pass through the village of Abandze, home of Louis Armstrong. You'll stay overnight back at your hotel in Accra.
