Itinerary
- Day 1
Kathmandu to Kerung
A driver picks you up from your Kathmandu hotel early morning and heads toward the Nepal-Tibet border along mountain roads. You'll pass waterfalls, rivers, and forest areas during the drive. Once you reach the border, you'll meet your Tibetan guide and complete the necessary paperwork. From there it's another 20 km to Kerung where you'll spend your first night.
- Day 2
Kerung to Tingri
After breakfast you'll drive uphill across Lalungla Pass at 5,050m/16,568 ft into the Tibetan plateau. The landscape opens up with wide views, and if weather cooperates, you can see the Himalayan ranges spread out. By afternoon you reach Tingri, where Mt. Everest (8,848m/29,029 ft) appears on the horizon on clear days.

Tingri to Everest Base Camp to Shigatse
This is an early start at 4:45 AM. You'll drive through mountain passes including Gyantso La at 5,200m/17,060 ft and Tsola at 4,500m/14,764 ft, passing through small villages along the way. From there it's a visit to Ronbuk Monastery followed by a hike up to Everest Base Camp. After returning, you rejoin the group to visit Tashilhumpu Monastery before driving to Shigatse for the night.

Shigatse to Gyantse
You'll spend the morning at Tashilhumpu Monastery exploring the residence of the Panchen Lama. Then the drive continues through agricultural fields toward Gyantse. Along the way you stop to see the Kumbum Stupa and Palkor Monastery. With only about 90km of driving, it's a more relaxed pace, and you'll settle into a guest house in Gyantse by evening.

Gyantse to Lhasa
Today is a long drive with about 260km ahead. You'll travel along Lake Yamadrok with its turquoise waters visible from the road. Crossing Kampala Pass at 4,784m/15,696 ft and the Brahma Putra River break up the journey. By evening you arrive in Lhasa for your overnight stay.

Lhasa
Your guide takes you through Lhasa's major religious and cultural sites. First you'll see Potala Palace, the former winter home of the Dalai Lama. Then there's Drepung Monastery, which was once the largest monastic university in Tibet. The day wraps up at Nechung Monastery, known as the temple of Tibet's State oracle.

Lhasa
The guided tour continues with visits to Jokhang Temple, considered the spiritual heart of Tibet, and the surrounding Barkhor area which functions as a bustling market. You'll also check out the Tibetan Medical Center and Norbulinka Palace, where the Dalai Lama spent summers. Another full day of exploring cultural and historical sites.

Lhasa to Kathmandu
Early morning you head to Gongkar Airport for a trans-Himalayan flight back to Kathmandu. The flight itself offers great views of the mountain ranges. After landing and settling in, you'll meet the group for a final dinner in Kathmandu before spending your last night at the hotel.
