Itinerary
- Day 1
Kathmandu to Pokhara
Your flight from Kathmandu gets you to Pokhara by midmorning, and from there you'll spend the day hitting the valley's main spots. You'll check out ancient temples scattered around the area, then head to the Gurkha Museum to learn about the region's military history. After that, the cave systems are worth exploring, especially Mahendra Cave with its underground chambers and stalactite formations. By late afternoon, you'll head down to Phewa Lake for a boat ride that gives you nice views of the surrounding mountains and water. The whole day winds down once you settle into your hotel for the evening.

- Day 2
Pokhara
This is a full day devoted to what makes Pokhara different from other places. You'll start by walking through the cave systems, then head to Fewa Gorge where the river cuts through dramatic rock formations and the scenery shifts dramatically. The mountain museum takes up a good chunk of the afternoon, where you'll find detailed exhibits about the Himalayas and local geology. As evening approaches, you'll make your way to the World Peace Pagoda, that white structure you can see from most parts of the city. Timing it right means you'll catch the sunset from up there, which gives you views back across Phewa Lake and toward the mountains beyond.

- Day 3
Pokhara to Kathmandu
You're getting up early to catch the sunrise from Sarangkot viewpoint, which sits high enough that you'll see the snow-capped Himalayan peaks light up as the sun comes up. It's about a 30-45 minute drive from your hotel, so plan accordingly. After you've taken in that view and grabbed some photos, you'll head back down for breakfast at the hotel. Then it's time to get to the airport for your flight back to Kathmandu, wrapping up your Pokhara portion of the trip.
