Itinerary
- Day 1
Marrakech to Mhamid
You'll leave Marrakech early and drive south through the High Atlas Mountains, passing through the Tichka Pass at 7,415 feet/2,260 meters. Along the way, you'll see traditional Berber villages and stop at several historic kasbahs, including Ait Benhaddou, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The landscape shifts as you continue into the Draa river valley heading toward Zagora, then further south to Mhamid where the Sahara Desert begins. By evening, you'll settle into a nomadic desert camp for your first night.

Mhamid Desert Trek
Your desert trekking starts from Mhamid, moving through palm-lined areas along the Oued Drâa river and into the open Sahara plains. You'll trek at a steady pace, stopping midday for tea and lunch in the shade of palm groves. The afternoon continues with more trekking toward Sidi Naji, a location known for its cultural history. You'll reach your camp by late afternoon, positioned at the base of sand dunes, and get to watch the sunset from your camp before settling in for the night.

Landmarks Oued Drâa River Sidi Naji Sahara Desert - Day 3
Erg Bo Snina Desert Trek
Rising before dawn, you'll start your camel trek through the sand dunes of the Sahara. After about 3 hours of trekking, you'll stop for tea and a midday meal resting in the shade of a tamarisk tree at Erg Bo Snina. You'll take some time to rest during the heat of the day, then continue the journey to reach the big dunes where your camp is set up. The evening brings spectacular desert views as you settle in surrounded by towering sand formations.

Landmarks Erg Bo Snina - Day 4
Erg Zahart Desert Trek
You'll wake with sunrise and continue your camel trekking through more sand dunes for roughly 3 hours before taking a break. Tea and lunch happen in the shade of another tamarisk tree at Erg Zahart, known as the largest dune formation near the border region. After resting, you'll trek onward to Lhdibat where the landscape becomes particularly dramatic with mountains and dunes meeting together. This camp location is one of the most visually striking spots on the entire journey with the surrounding desert scenery.

Return to Mhamid
The return to Mhamid begins at sunrise after you load up the camels. You'll trek back through the desert landscape, passing through Ouald Naam and the loubr region where lunch is served. By evening, you'll arrive back in Mhamid, completing your final night of the desert experience and wrapping up the trekking portion of your tour.

Landmarks Ouald Naam - Day 6
Return to Marrakech
You'll drive north from Mhamid back toward Marrakech by car, retracing through the Draa river valley and back up through the High Atlas Mountains. The journey takes the full day as you head back through the Tichka Pass and down to Marrakech. You'll arrive at your riad by 6 PM, marking the end of your Sahara adventure.
