    Kathmandu

    You'll land at Kathmandu International Airport where your tour representative meets you. After checking into your hotel, the afternoon and evening are yours to wander around this historic city at your own pace. It's a good time to get your bearings and shake off the travel.

  2. Day 2

    Kathmandu

    Breakfast comes first, then you'll attend a trip orientation meeting to prepare for what's ahead. From there, a guided tour takes you through Kathmandu Valley for the full day. You'll see Kathmandu Durbar Square with its Newari architecture, visit the sacred Boudhanath Stupa and Swayambhunath Stupa, and check out Pashupatinath Temple sitting on the banks of the Bagmati River. Later, you'll have time for last-minute shopping before the day ends.

    Kathmandu to Arughat Bazar

    The drive to Arughat Bazar takes you to a bustling market town cut through by the Buri Gandaki River. This marks where your trekking adventure actually starts. You'll settle in at a tented camp for the night.

  4. Day 4

    Arughat Bazar to Kyopani and Soti Khola

    Your trek begins from Arughat, heading west across the Buri Gandaki bridge. The trail moves through rice and millet fields, then into forests where monkeys are common. You'll reach Sante Bazar with views of Sringi Himal. After that, the path gets more demanding as you cross the Arkhet Khola suspension bridge and climb steeply to Kyopani, a Magar and Gurung village. The day ends by descending to Soti Khola, which has a swimming hole and waterfalls.

    Soti Khola to Maccha Khola

    Trekking continues through beautiful sal forests with spectacular views of high rapids on the Buri Gandaki. Rocky terrain, tropical waterfalls, and rice terraces mark the trail as you work your way to the Gurung village of Labubesi. You'll walk along a sandy riverbed, then climb over a side ridge and descend to Maccha Khola.

    Maccha Khola to Jagat

    This day takes you through steep valleys as you cross the Tharo Khola and reach Khorlabesi with its tobacco, wheat, and buckwheat fields. The route passes Tatopani hot spring and crosses multiple suspension bridges over challenging terrain. Steep stone staircases through landslide areas and a 93 meter suspension bridge over the Yaru Khola get you to Jagat, a compact village where you'll stay.

    Jagat to Ekle Bhatti

    From Jagat, you'll trek upstream crossing a suspension bridge and climbing ridges to reach Salleri, which has good views of Sringi Himal. After descending to Setibas where mani walls and stone kani show Tibetan cultural influence, the path continues through Ghatta Khola and crosses to Philim, a large Gurung village surrounded by cornfields. Millet fields take you to Ekle Bhatti.

    Ekle Bhatti to Deng

    You'll trek through a steep, uninhabited gorge with grassy slopes dotted by pine trees. A blue metal bridge crosses the Buri Gandaki River, and from there you walk along the riverbanks while climbing over ridges. Bamboo forests along the Deng Khola bring you to Deng, a Gurung village.

    Deng to Ghap

    After recrossing the Buri Gandaki, you'll climb to Rana village. The trek ascends past waterfalls and through ravines, then traverses high above the river where vertical rock walls box it in. Forests with mani walls lead you to Ghap village, recognized for its elaborately carved mani wall showing Buddha in meditation and the Tibetan saint Milarepa.

  10. Day 10

    Ghap to Lhogaon

    Forests of big firs filled with birds including Nepal's national bird Danphe open the day. Streams and long mani walls connect to waterfalls as you cross the Buri Gandaki twice on wooden bridges amid mist and grey langur monkeys. Steep climbing through bamboo and rhododendron forests brings you into the Nupri region where locals wear traditional Tibetan wraparound cloaks and speak a Tibetan dialect. After trekking through Namrung, Basram, and Lihi at 2900m, you'll cross a double-span cantilever bridge over the Hinan Khola to reach Sho. Lhogaon village comes next with spectacular views of Manaslu.

    Lhogaon to Samagaon

    You'll drop down and cross the Damonan Khola bridge, then ascend through damp forests on muddy or icy ground to Shyaula plateau at 3520m/11,550 feet with wide views of Himalchuli, Ngadi Chuli, and Manaslu. The trail passes through blackened forest remnants and descends through Thosang Khola canyon, crossing boulder-strewn moraine fields to reach Samagaon village with its large gompa where only potatoes and barley grow.

  12. Day 12

    Samagaon to Samdo

    Walking west beside the stream takes you toward Kargyu Chholing Gompa, climbing to its buildings and residences. This Nyingma gompa has eight separate temple buildings, with the largest being Pemba Chholing Gompa housing a large Guru Rinpoche statue. Mani walls and juniper and birch forests mark the path past stone huts at Kermo Kharka. The trail gets rougher as yak trains have worn it soft. After dropping off the shelf and crossing the Buri Gandaki on a wooden bridge, you'll climb steeply between two river forks, pass through a kani, and reach Samdo positioned behind a ridge.

    Samdo to Larkya Phedi

    From Samdo, a wide gentle trail descends past many fields to a large mani wall and stone archway. You'll cross a wooden bridge at 3850m/12,630 feet and begin gentle climbing through tundra and juniper opposite the massive Larkya Glacier descending from Manaslu North. The ridge climbing reaches approximately 4000m/13,120 feet with views from a huge gorge edge. After climbing in and out of the gorge and contouring, you'll arrive at Larkya Rest House at Larkya Phedi, the only shelter before the pass.

  14. Day 14

    Larkya Phedi to Bimtang (Larkya La Pass)

    Start early for the ascent to Larkya La Pass following a long gentle climb beside a moraine. You'll cross a small ridge, descend to a lake, then keep climbing until the moraine top at 4690m/15,390 feet. Rough grassy slopes and four frozen lakes lead to the final steep climb reaching Larkya La at 4610m/15,125 feet with tremendous views of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Gyaji Kung, Kang Guru, and Annapurna II. The western descent along the moraine has steep switchbacks requiring rope fixing if snow is present. You'll descend to Taubuche at 4450m/14,600 feet, then through grassy moraine to Bimtang meadow, a huge valley surrounded by high peaks. Listen for avalanches during the night.

  15. Day 15

    Bimtang to Tilje

    From Bimtang, you'll descend crossing a glacial stream on a wooden bridge, the headwaters of Dudh Khola. Climbing over moraine leads into beautiful pine and rhododendron forests reaching Hompuk at 3430m/11,250 feet. Switchbacks bring you to a Dudh Khola fork, then you'll follow the river through forests to a herders hut and reach Karache at 2700m/8,860 feet. Crossing through fields involves a steep climb over a decorated ridge while the river loops below in an S-shape. Gho village at 2560m/8,400 feet comes next, then through fields, streams, and rhododendron and oak forests on the north bank of Dudh Khola to the large Gurung village of Tilje.

  16. Day 16

    Tilje to Syange

    Leaving through a stone arch, you'll cross the Dudh Khola and trek along the river embankment as the trail descends through scrub forests with the Marsyangdi Valley becoming more visible. A wooden bridge takes you back to the northern side of Dudh Khola at 1930m/6,330 feet, then climbing through an arch with a mani wall reaches Thonje village. Turning left, you'll cross a long suspension bridge over the Marsyangdi River to Dharapani at 1920m/6,300 feet. From there, descend to Karte village at 1850m/6,070 feet, then past fields and bamboo and rhododendron stands to Chamje at 1410m/4,625 feet and continue downhill to Jagat and finally Syange.

    Trekking downhill follows the Marsyangdi Khola south toward lower elevations through villages with rice terraces. You'll pass through Bhulbule, cross Bahundanda at 1270m/4,165 feet, a Brahmin settlement sitting attractively in a ridge saddle, and reach Ngadi at 900m/2,950 feet.

    EBC tour was great. Sabita was always available to us throughout the tour whenever we needed anything. Our guide Tshiring was excellent throughout the 12 day trek. We would have not completed the trek to EBC without his help and support. I would highly recommend female guide to anyone doing the EBC trek.
