Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Kathmandu

    You'll land at Kathmandu International Airport where your representative meets you for the transfer to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day wandering around this historic and vibrant city at your own pace. It's a good chance to get oriented and shake off the travel.

  2. Day 2

    Kathmandu

    After breakfast, head out for a full-day guided tour of Kathmandu. You'll walk through Durbar Square to see the historic temples and Newari architecture, then climb up to Swoyambhunath Stupa on its hilltop overlooking the valley. From there, check out Pashupatinath Temple from the riverside, and move on to explore the massive Boudhanath Stupa. End your day with a welcome dinner in the evening.

    Kathmandu to Phakding

    Early morning flight takes you from Kathmandu to Lukla Airport, and then you start trekking toward Phakding. The trail passes through Sherpa villages and descends above farmlands with views of sacred mountain Kumbila and nearby peaks. You'll pass several monasteries and shrines along the way.

    Phakding to Namche Bazar

    Trek toward Namche Bazar through Sherpa villages and scenic hamlets, passing the entrance to Sagarmatha National Park. You'll cross a high bridge over the Dudhkoshi River gorge, then make a steep final push to reach Namche Bazar, where you get your first views of Mt. Everest rising over the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge.

    Namche Bazar

    This is your acclimatization day in Namche Bazar. Take short walks or climb a few hundred feet around the villages to explore houses, terraced fields, and views of snowy mountains like Kwangde, Khumbu peak, Thamserku, and Kusum Kanguru. If it's Saturday, you can visit the village's weekly market.

    Namche Bazar to Yak Kharka

    The trail climbs steeply out of the valley through rhododendron forests, and as you gain elevation, juniper and large conifers start appearing, making this section particularly nice in spring. You'll pass through Yak Kharka and summer settlements with views of Khumbi La and Tawache throughout the day.

  7. Day 7

    Yak Kharka to Machherma

    The trail climbs a ridge for good views down the valley to Kangtega and toward Cho Oyu. After descending to a river, you'll climb steeply to the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpa Glacier, reaching Machherma by early noon.

  8. Day 8

    Machherma to Gokyo

    Trek to Gokyo, which becomes your base for the next two nights. You'll have a couple of hiking and sightseeing trips around Gokyo to explore this area and get comfortable with the surroundings.

  9. Day 9

    Gokyo

    Spend the day exploring Gokyo by walking around the lake and hiking north to other sacred lakes, then return to Gokyo for the night. It's a good opportunity to acclimatize further while seeing the surrounding landscape.

  10. Day 10

    Gokyo Ri

    Climb Gokyo Ri early in the morning for the trek's highlight. The path crosses the stream at the village's north end and climbs for about two hours through prayer flags to the peak. From the summit, you'll see panoramic views of Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cholatse, and Taboche, with the Ngozumpa Glacier stretching across below. Walk down to Gokyo for the night.

    Dole to Namche Bazar

    Descend to Namche Bazar via the typical Sherpa village of Khumjung. You're leaving the high mountains behind as you continue heading down toward Namche Bazar.

    Namche Bazar to Lukla

    Lukla to Kathmandu

    EBC tour was great. Sabita was always available to us throughout the tour whenever we needed anything. Our guide Tshiring was excellent throughout the 12 day trek. We would have not completed the trek to EBC without his help and support. I would highly recommend female guide to anyone doing the EBC trek.

    • For any tour departing before January 1st, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after January 1st, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with Female Guide Holiday. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
