Kilimanjaro International Airport to Moshi
Your driver-guide meets you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and drives you to Moshi town, about 45 minutes away. Once you arrive, your professional guide goes over what to expect during the climb and checks your gear. If anything's missing, you can rent it right there, so don't worry if you need to pick up extra equipment.

Nalemuru Gate to Simba Camp
After meeting your guide and support crew at the hotel for a brief overview, you'll drive to Nalemuru Gate (2,020m/6,627ft), the northern entrance to Kilimanjaro National Park. Once permits are sorted and you're registered, the actual trekking starts through coniferous forest along the mountain's northern slope toward Simba Camp (2,625m/8,612ft). The pace is moderate, so you can take it at your own speed. Your crew sets up tents and has dinner waiting when you arrive.

Simba Camp to Kikilewa Camp
You'll head out early after breakfast from Simba Camp, trekking toward Kikilewa Camp (3,630m/11,909ft). On clear days, you'll see Kibo Volcano during this section, though weather can affect visibility. This day's more physically demanding than the previous one, so resting fully once you reach camp is important for recovery.

Landmarks Kibo Volcano - Day 4
Kikilewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Camp
An early start after breakfast gets you on the trail toward Mawenzi Tarn Camp at the foot of Mawenzi Volcano, Kilimanjaro's second summit (4,310m/14,137ft). After lunch and a two-hour break at camp, you'll do an acclimatization hike that gains about 200m in altitude before heading back down for dinner. This helps your body adjust to higher elevations.

Mawenzi Tarn Camp to School Hut Camp
The trek to School Hut Camp (4,715m/15,469ft) takes you through rocky semidesert terrain as the landscape shifts dramatically. The hiking itself isn't particularly hard, but pacing matters since you need to save energy for tomorrow. Once settled at camp, focus on getting solid sleep, staying hydrated, and keeping things low-key, because you're heading for Uhuru Peak tonight.

School Hut Camp to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Camp
You'll depart School Hut Camp at night to trek toward Uhuru Peak (5,895m/19,341ft), Kilimanjaro's summit. Each pair of climbers has their own guide watching for signs of fatigue and checking in on mental state. While the physical difficulty is moderate, altitude becomes the real test. After summiting, you can hike down to nearby glaciers if energy allows, then head to Kibo Camp for a two-hour rest before making the longer descent to Horombo Camp (3,720m/12,205ft).

After a warm breakfast, the descent continues down to Marangu Gate (1,860m/6,102ft), where the national park exit is located. The whole climbing team gathers to celebrate, you'll sign the guestbook and pick up your commemorative certificate from the office. From there, it's a transfer back to your hotel.
