Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Negombo
You'll land and connect with your Apple Vacations representative right at the airport. Once you get through immigration and customs and collect your bags, your English-speaking driver will take you to your hotel in Negombo. Settle in, get comfortable, and have dinner at the hotel that evening.

Negombo to Wilpattu National Park to Anuradhapura
After breakfast, your private driver picks you up for the transfer to Wilpattu National Park, one of Sri Lanka's largest and oldest protected areas. The safari here is exciting, with chances to see Sri Lankan elephants, leopards, sloth bears, and different deer species, plus lots of birds like eagles, owls, and egrets. Following the safari, you'll head to Anuradhapura, check into your hotel, and have time to rest before dinner.

Anuradhapura
This morning after breakfast, you'll check out Anuradhapura's ancient Buddhist sites throughout the day. Mihintale Mountain is where Buddhism took hold in Sri Lanka, with its old monastic buildings and cave spaces. Isurumuniya has a charming rock temple with a lotus pond and nice mural paintings. You'll also see Jethawana Stupa, the tallest brick stupa in the world, and the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya, the oldest living tree that was planted by humans in recorded history. Before heading back to your hotel for dinner, you'll visit Ruwanwelisaya, which is Sri Lanka's oldest stupa and a key example of ancient architecture.

Anuradhapura to Polonnaruwa
After breakfast, you're transferred to Polonnaruwa to see its historical sites. Gal Vihara is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with remarkable Buddha statues carved into granite from King Parakramabahu I's reign. The Royal Palace Complex was once a grand seven-story building with 50 rooms held up by 30 stone columns. Lankatilaka is a striking temple with 17-meter-high walls, first built by Parakramabahu I and later fixed up. After exploring these sites, you'll return to your hotel with the rest of the day free before dinner.

- Day 5
Polonnaruwa to Sigiriya to Dambulla
After breakfast, you head towards Sigiriya. Along the way, you'll stop at the dramatic Sigiriya rock rising from the plains, which was once the center of King Kassapa's kingdom with great views from the top across the forested land. Then you'll continue to Dambulla Cave Temple, one of the island's most extensive and well-kept rock temple complexes. You'll check in to your hotel in Dambulla or Habarana and relax before dinner.

- Day 6
Dambulla to Kandy
After breakfast, you're transferred to Kandy. Start at Kandy View Point, where climbing the hill by Kandy Lake gives you good views of the city and surroundings (just keep an eye on your things due to pickpockets). Then you'll walk around Kandy Lake, an artificial lake built in 1807 by King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe. Check into your hotel, and later that evening, you'll catch a traditional Kandyan cultural dance show and visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, which holds Sri Lanka's most important Buddhist relic kept in nested gold caskets, along with smaller temples, shrines, and museums.

- Day 7
Kandy to Colombo
After breakfast, you're heading towards Colombo or the airport. On the way, stop at the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya, Sri Lanka's oldest formal gardens covering 147 acres with nearly 4,000 plant species and a grand Avenue of Royal Palms. Next, visit Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, home to the world's largest herd of captive Asian elephants. Return to your hotel in Colombo to relax, then later transfer to the airport for your departure flight.

Departure from Colombo
