- LTLaura· October 26th, 2025Just finished my first Intro Travel tour. So many highlights. I especially enjoyed sushi making, karaoke night, Japanese BBQ, the onsens, and the Buddhist temple stay vegan meal. Oh, and daily trips to the konbini :) Intro Travel is aimed at people in their 20s and 30s. I’m in my late 30s and was hesitant to book. But I’m glad I did because we had a good mix of people, and I wasn’t the oldest. Lachie was our tour leader. Everything was well organised and lots of helpful information was shared throughout the trip in our WhatsApp group. Lachie was patient and calm, but also really fun. Our group all got on so well, we’re planning a reunion, with Lachie of course!Show moreTrip date: October 2025
- BLBonny· October 22nd, 2025Great tour. Got to see a lot with a nice mix of urban and rural areas. The focus is more on experiences and culture. Be aware though that you will be generally sharing a hostel room with 3 - 4 other folks and some of the beds are less than comfy.Show moreTrip date: September 2025
Nathan· October 1st, 2025I have to shout out Lachlan Fleming . He did such an amazing job on our Japan tour! Best tour guide ever!!!! 10/10!! He gave a bit of culture, history, etiquette, and recommendations for literally everything you could want to do anywhere in Japan! He even handled a sticky situation for me when I forgot medication in a remote location. I was worried I'd have to leave the tour to go get the medication, but Lachie sorted it out in a couple of hours. A few emails from him and my medication arrived the next day at our hostel. Saved my life - not even exaggerating! He was humble and fun and did an amazing job managing a lot of different personalities on the tour. Would definitely like to be on another tour with him.Show more Nathan· October 1st, 2025I have to shout out Lachlan Fleming . He did such an amazing job on our Japan tour! Julia· September 20th, 2025Your experience depends a lot on the group. I had a hard time fitting in (a lot of native English speakers that tend to exclude others, people were mostly not there for the culture or the food but only for the consumeristic side of Japan) so it made the social part of my travel quite difficult. Concerning intro travel, there were a few problems in general. The guides had a poor English and were speaking in a really low volume. They could have provided microphones or earpieces to make it easier. A lot of historical, cultural and even general background information was missing. When I asked the travel leader about it he said that people usually don’t care that much so they tend to skip it. During the tour, a lot of free time is given. The group leader will give some recommendations of activities. However, those recommendations come quite late so planning and making reservations are not possible anymore. A more detailed itinerary after booking would have been nice. If you have any dietary restrictions then let me tell you, you will have problems. Intro travel provided the option to be vegan. Almost none of my breakfast had vegan options, most of the not included meals were in predetermined restaurants so I couldn’t join the group because of the lack of options. I had to eat instant noodles alone in the hotel room in some cases. I am not really hard on this, I know my lifestyle is not common but I would have preferred a warning so that I could have brought some snacks from home to make it easier (the options at the convenience store are very limited). Nevertheless, the activities were mostly well planned and fun. It was nice to leave the busy cities and to experience life of Japan outside of it in smaller and more traditional villages. Shibu onsen and Koyasan were lovely. It was nice to not think about where to go and how to get there.Show moreTrip date: September 2025 Julia· September 20th, 2025Your experience depends a lot on the group. The content in our FAQ section is subject to change.- DDaniela Asked on September 26th, 2025Can you tell me what is if the accommodation is in Hostels and What is the bed size in hostels... I am a tall person and I fit in queen size beds... Will that work for me? INTRO TravelOperator•Written September 2025 INTRO TravelOperator•Written September 2025- The beds are pretty small but that's just the case in Japan unfortunately, we do have lots of tall passengers who join our tours and they get on alright :)
- DDaniela Traveler•Written September 2025Which dates are best to see fall foliage in Japan?
INTRO TravelOperator•Written September 2025 INTRO TravelOperator•Written September 2025- The best time to catch the autumn foliage in Japan is during the fall months, from September to November. November is usually perfect, as the colours move down to central and southern Japan, with Tokyo and Kyoto peaking around mid to late November.

- LLouis Asked on September 18th, 2025Could you please confirm if you can accept a booking for Michael and his 22-year-old daughter for the tour on November 30th? INTRO TravelOperator•Written September 2025 INTRO TravelOperator•Written September 2025- The majority of people on our tours are aged 18 to 39, but we regularly have people in their 40's and 50's travel with us and have an incredible time! As long as you have an appetite for adventure and are happy bonding with people of all backgrounds, you'll fit in perfectly!

- TTiffany Asked on September 17th, 2025What is the average group size, and are we together every single day as a group? INTRO TravelOperator•Written September 2025 INTRO TravelOperator•Written September 2025- The majority of people on our tours are aged 18 to 39, but we regularly have people in their 40's, 50's and 60's travel with us. Our Maximum age is 65 for this trip. There are activities everyday, but there is also lots of free time so you can go off and do your own exploring. This trip involves a lot of walking and lots of group time, so you will be with the group everyday.
- TTiffany Traveler•Written September 2025Do you have any other tours the mimic this that are small group size? We do not want to be with 'older' people per se, as we are very active and liberally minded.

- LLori Asked on September 17th, 2025I like the 13 day Japan itinerary but do you have anything for seniors with a bit of more comfort in terms of accommodations with private bathrooms. I am 70 and my husband 75. INTRO TravelOperator•Written September 2025 INTRO TravelOperator•Written September 2025- The majority of our group members are in their 20's and 30's, so unfortunately I don't think our tours would be suitable for you.

- CClaudia Asked on September 17th, 2025Is there still room available for this tour on November 24? INTRO TravelOperator•Written September 2025 INTRO TravelOperator•Written September 2025- There sure is 2 spots available on the 24th November, and we would love for you to join us!

- AAna Asked on September 13th, 2025Are there age limits for the tour? I am 62 years old. INTRO TravelOperator•Written September 2025 INTRO TravelOperator•Written September 2025- The majority of people on our tours are aged 18 to 40, but we regularly have people in their 50's & 60s travel with us and have an incredible time! - AAna Traveler•Written September 2025Are the bunk beds in hotels? If I travel single, are there shared rooms?
INTRO TravelOperator•Written September 2025 INTRO TravelOperator•Written September 2025- We stay in a mixture of hostels, hotels, and traditional temples along the way. For the quad share rooms, these are mixed gender. For twin share rooms, you will be roomed with another female traveller on the trip. We also offer the option of private rooms for a supplement. We would strongly recommend not having a private room for the 2 nights in Nagano and the 1 night in Koyasan as the traditional Ryokan and Buddhist temple shared is very much part of the experience!

INTRO TravelOperator•Written September 2025 INTRO TravelOperator•Written September 2025- There is no airport shuttle included in our Japan trip but our INTRO Travel app has detailed instructions (with photo references) on how to get from any of the Tokyo Airports, to the hostel where the group stays. It is pretty much a step by step guide! And when returning to the Airport at the end, their group leader can help take care of everything.

We have availability for 4 of you to join us on the 9th July start date. We also have more July 2026 start dates - 3rd, 9th, 15th, 21st and 27th July.

INTRO TravelOperator•Written September 2025 INTRO TravelOperator•Written September 2025- Our trips are for over 18's only, however we can allow 17 year olds to join with a signed parental consent form. INTRO TravelOperator•Written August 2025 INTRO TravelOperator•Written August 2025- This particular tour has a maximum age limit of 65, so unfortunately your 84-year-old mom wouldn't be able to join us. The trip also involves quite a lot of walking each day (often over 10,000 steps) and some quad share rooms feature bunk beds, which wouldn't be suitable for someone in a wheelchair.
