- IRIzaiah· June 10th, 2025The 13 day Japan trip with Dan was the best traveling experience I’ve had. Dan was very professional and made it clear of the expectations he wanted so that we would receive the best trip and he went above and beyond. I had a lot of fun meeting new people from all over the world. Getting to know them for about two weeks while also experiencing the same cultural experience that we wanted was a blast!Show moreTrip date: May 2025

- marinsweeper11· June 9th, 2025Lots of Walking! Be ready to go up and down stairs for 13 days. The cities are beautiful, the sights are amazing. The food is immaculate! Come with an open mind and an open heart. I only wish there was a swimming day. That’s my only critique.Show moreTrip date: May 2025
- JGJoey· June 9th, 2025This is my 4rh trip with intro travel. Dan Woodward is my best group leader thus far! Bali, Thailand, Phillipines, and Japan were all amazing. Can't wait for the next one!Show moreTrip date: May 2025
- JMJulia· May 22nd, 2025We just finished the 13 day Japan tour with Dan as our group leader. This was our first Intro trip and will not be the last! The tour was amazing, with a great group, and we had a great time. The itinerary is great with a good mix of places and activities. Dan was extremely knowledgeable about all things Japan, and he went over and above to make sure that we had everything we needed and got us everywhere on time. I highly recommend this trip, and if your group leader is Dan you will be in great hands!Show moreTrip date: May 2025
- Anthony· April 30th, 2025This was such an amazing experience. This was my first time doing a tour like this solo and Dan truly made me feel so comfortable and welcome. Everything was planned so well and we were able to pack so much into this little trip. The group was great and the activities were amazing. I really felt I got as much out of this trip as I could and Dan was a big part of that. He was knowledgeable and clearly went out of his way to make this the best trip it could be. Can’t wait to do it again soon!Show moreTrip date: April 2025
- RTRhiannon· April 30th, 2025Dan is hands down the best tour guide I’ve ever had. From start to finish, he went above and beyond — always looking out for us, making sure we were safe, comfortable, and having the best time possible. Even when navigating the group through the busiest train stations in the world everything ran smoothly. He has built beautiful connections with people and businesses along the way making it an even more special experience. He was funny, patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate — always cracking jokes, playing games, and bringing the whole group together like we were one big family. His positive attitude never wavered, no matter how chaotic we got. #Danstours were definitely a highlight and I appreciate all the effort he went to to do these with us! Dan made this trip unforgettable. I’ve come away with amazing memories, a bunch of new friends, and a deep appreciation for how much work goes into making a tour feel this fun and effortless. The special stays and the experiences in this trip were also amazing I can’t fault a thing! From the amazing nature to the temples and culture we were a part of, it’s definitely something I will treasure forever. Thanks for everything, Dan!Show moreTrip date: April 2025
- Ceri· April 30th, 2025Went on the 13 day adventure to Japan and had a great time, had an amazing group and our group leader Dan went above and beyond to ensure we all had the best trip possible!Show moreTrip date: April 2025
- James· April 25th, 2025A truly brilliant introduction to Japan, I enjoyed pretty much every aspect of the trip. The entire thing was very well organised and run by Becca, she was helpful, friendly and accommodating and kept things light and fun despite the busy itinerary and pressure to get a large group from A to B to C when needed. It's nice to see someone take their work seriously but not be too serious, which I feel is important on a tour like this. I've done tours abroad before, and Becca is one of the best guides I've had, she shows a lot of passion, humour and dedication in her work, and was genuinely fun to be around as an extra member of the group as well as the tour guide. She also went above and beyond to organise a birthday gathering for me, which was very touching. The party hat will be memorable for years to come! I enjoyed all aspects of the itinerary, and didn't feel the trip was too travel heavy, in fact the shinkansen transits were an enjoyable feature of the trip. There's not really anything I'd seek to change, I feel like it was a great introduction to Japan, and I've already booked flights to go back solo and see more of the country.Show moreTrip date: April 2025

Asked on April 7th, 2025I was just reaching out because we have a group of 3 people and are very interested in this tour, it looks great, but wanted to check - given that the accommodation is set as quad share hostels, would it be possible to arrange for our group to have only the 3 of us in the rooms? I understand there may be extra cost associated with that and we would be happy to talk about covering the extra cost of booking the rooms if that allows us to organise it this way
- INTRO TravelOperator•Written April 2025
The rooms are a mixture of quad and twin rooms, at about a 50/50 split, for the quads it will really depend on the make up of the group as to whether we can accommodate just the 3 of you in there, if we can then we definitely will, but we wouldn't know this until closer the time, we sadly do not have the option to block off a space/bed in the quad rooms as an added extra, sorry about that!

Traveler•Written April 2025Are there options to not have quad share. I am travelling with my mother and would like just a room for two
- INTRO TravelOperator•Written April 2025
The majority of people on our tours are aged 18 to 39, but we regularly have people in their 40's and 50s travel with us and have an incredible time! The trip involves a lot of walking (10k+ steps per day) and some quad share rooms have bunk beds but as long as she's relatively fit and active she should be fine. Depending on the time of year that you're looking to travel, we can certainly look into the possibility of a private room for you too. However Group Members are in their rooms for a very limited time throughout the trip, as there are activities most days and things planned most evenings. It also isn't possible to have a private room in Hakone. And we would strongly recommend not having a private room for the 2 nights in Nagano and the 1 night in Koyasan as the traditional Ryokan and Buddhist temple shared is very much part of the experience!

Asked on March 15th, 2025I'm 67 but strong and healthy. Can I join the group?
- INTRO TravelOperator•Written March 2025
The majority of our group members are in their 20's and 30's, so unfortunately I don't think our tours would be suitable for you. We hope you find a suitable trip that works for you. You may find that Intrepid Travel or G Adventures have some suitable tours for you.

- INTRO TravelOperator•Written February 2025
We have lots of people in their 20s booked throughout April and May. Cherry Blossom season is from 9th March - 24th April 2025, these are very popular dates though so I would recommend securing a spot ASAP.
- INTRO TravelOperator•Written February 2025
Due to data protection we are unable to give out any information about the other travelers booked onto our tours. Once booked, people in the group tend to set up a whatsapp group but it's not something we arrange.
- INTRO TravelOperator•Written February 2025
We don't arrange airport transfer. However, it is very easy to get to the hostel. I have attached trip notes with instructions and recommend downloading our app for more information.
- INTRO TravelOperator•Written February 2025
If you plan on arriving a day before the start date we can look into getting an extra night booked at our accommodation, depending on availability. The earlier we check, the better!
- INTRO TravelOperator•Written February 2025
We don't book flights here. SkyScanner is a great website for flight comparisons!
- INTRO TravelOperator•Written February 2025
Wheeled suitcase would be absolutely fine!

Asked on February 11th, 2025trying to visit Japan for the first time hopefully with a nice group of people and good guide. I am a very active 73 years old and I see your tours are arranged by age. How firm is the age limit. I can definitely mix up with any age... thinking of a two week comprehensive tour around last week of March to mid april. my birthday is march 31st and would love to spend it on a trip to another country.
- INTRO TravelOperator•Written February 2025
Unfortunately, for our Japan tours, we are unable to accept any bookings over the age of 60. I'm really sorry about that! We really hope you find a suitable trip and that you have a fantastic time in Japan, it's truly an incredible country! You may find that Intrepid Travel or G Adventures have some suitable tours for you

Asked on January 31st, 2025I was wondering if I could know what hostel we would be staying at in Tokyo so I can book in the same hostel for the night of the 17th. If the flight gets delayed by a day, how would I meet up with the tour group? Finally, what time does the tour actually begin?
- INTRO TravelOperator•Written February 2025
The hostel that we stay at in Tokyo is called Grids Ueno. On Day 1 of your trip, there are no planned activities as this is when the majority of the group arrives. The group meets around 7pm for a welcome dinner. If your flight is delayed and you don't arrive until the actual start date, you won't miss out on any activities. Depending on your arrival time, you'll always be able to meet up with the group if they're already out for dinner.

Traveler•Written February 2025When you say we arent doing anything on Day one, does that mean we have to book our own place to stay or does Day 1 include a place to stay? As for carrying luggage around, would we stop by the rooms we are staying at to drop our gear off and then explore or are we going to be traveling with however many bags we are bringing?
- INTRO TravelOperator•Written February 2025
From day 1 until the end of your tour, all accommodation is included. The only time you will ever have to carry your big bags around is when you are taking the transport from one location to another. When you are out on activities for the day, you will never need to carry your big bags around, only a small day bag for whatever you need to bring with you for that activity.

Asked on January 30th, 2025What are the accommodations for this trip? We will not be sharing a bed.
- INTRO TravelOperator•Written January 2025
The rooming situation in Japan is a mixture of 4 bed dorms and twin rooms, about a 50/50 split.
