I booked this trip for my 26th and honestly, it was one of the best things I’ve ever done. From the moment I signed up, I was buzzing and our group leader Dan made it even better. He was helping us out even before we landed in Japan! Proper organised, chilled, and full of good vibes, Dan kept everything running smooth and stress-free, while still making it loads of fun. He even went the extra mile to help me plan my extra days so I could squeeze every bit out of my time there. The hostels were super clean and cosy, and yeah, rooms are small, but that’s Japan and I loved it. Every place we visited was brilliant, but if I had to pick favourites, Nagano and Koyasan definitely stole my heart. Koyasan was full of culture – we stayed in a Buddhist temple, did meditation, saw fire ceremonies, just unreal. Nagano was pure peace, with beautiful scenery and those amazing 9 onsens! Dan really went above and beyond to make sure we all had the best time. We were lucky enough to catch all the good stuff – Mount Fuji, the snow monkeys, even dodged the worst of the weather and crowds thanks to Dan’s planning. And he’s top notch with the camera too, some of the best pics I’ve got are thanks to him. I’ve already put a deposit down for another trip! Honestly, I couldn’t have asked for a better guide or a better birthday. Massive thanks to Dan for making it so special,– you’re a diamond mate!

Dan went above and beyond from the start to exceed any expectations - not only in making everyone feel comfortable, but with any support before, during, and after. The trip itself was exceptionally designed to balance both the organised chaos of the mega city, to the relaxing countrysides - with activities included throughout. Stays within both Negano and Koyasan were particularly special, providing an authentically traditional experience. There is no fault with the Japan tour from Intro, and it has far exceeded prior experiences with other tour providers.

I cannot recommend the 13 day tour of Japan enough. It was a well put together, busy, itinerary containing everything from hectic city outings to more relaxed days in the Japanese countryside. This was coupled with numerous activities, such as a walking tour of Tokyos Senso-ji temple and Meji shrines alingside a Samurai experience held within an 200-plus-year-old building. The trips group leader, Dan, was exceptional in every way possible from providing interesting facts and tidbits of knowledge surrounding the locations we visited all the way down to organising our transport across the country-- providing a smooth and comfortable experience.

I’ve just finished the Japan 13 day adventure tour with group leader Dan and didn’t really know what to expect never having done a group tour before but it’s been amazing. Dan helped with everything from getting to Japan, to mailing suitcases for me, to onward travel afterwards! As it’s so difficult to navigate the transport system around Japan it was the thing that I was most nervous about but he helped me book everything and showed me every single route I could take in order to suit me best! I showed up not really knowing what to expect but the itinerary covers everything you need to see in Japan and is so well ran with activities and leaders that go above and beyond to help and also the option is there to go and do a different activity of your choice if you like, which my leader was so helpful in booking and organising too! Overall couldn’t recommend enough and will definitely be doing another tour!

I'm a bit of a perfectionist. Before joining the 13-day Japan tour led by Meg, I had dozens of tabs open comparing different travel agencies. I was overwhelmed. After a lot of research—and even a nod from AI—I chose Intro Travel. It turned out to be a great decision. The trip was fantastic, and I’m already considering traveling with them again.

We include all of the awesome experiences in the package so you don't need to worry about a thing! Hang out with red faced snow monkeys, wield a samurai sword, stay overnight in a 1000 year old buddhist temple with local monks are just some of the many highlights! We have plenty of trips with similar durations elsewhere but this is our one and only tour in Japan.

    Asked on April 7th, 2025

I was just reaching out because we have a group of 3 people and are very interested in this tour, it looks great, but wanted to check - given that the accommodation is set as quad share hostels, would it be possible to arrange for our group to have only the 3 of us in the rooms? I understand there may be extra cost associated with that and we would be happy to talk about covering the extra cost of booking the rooms if that allows us to organise it this way

    • INTRO TravelOperatorWritten April 2025

The rooms are a mixture of quad and twin rooms, at about a 50/50 split, for the quads it will really depend on the make up of the group as to whether we can accommodate just the 3 of you in there, if we can then we definitely will, but we wouldn't know this until closer the time, we sadly do not have the option to block off a space/bed in the quad rooms as an added extra, sorry about that!

Are there options to not have quad share. I am travelling with my mother and would like just a room for two

    • INTRO TravelOperatorWritten April 2025

The majority of people on our tours are aged 18 to 39, but we regularly have people in their 40's and 50s travel with us and have an incredible time! The trip involves a lot of walking (10k+ steps per day) and some quad share rooms have bunk beds but as long as she's relatively fit and active she should be fine. Depending on the time of year that you're looking to travel, we can certainly look into the possibility of a private room for you too. However Group Members are in their rooms for a very limited time throughout the trip, as there are activities most days and things planned most evenings. It also isn't possible to have a private room in Hakone. And we would strongly recommend not having a private room for the 2 nights in Nagano and the 1 night in Koyasan as the traditional Ryokan and Buddhist temple shared is very much part of the experience!
