Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Tarangire National Park

You'll have breakfast at the lodge, then head early to Tarangire National Park, Tanzania's third largest. The park revolves around the Tarangire River where you'll find massive elephant herds, baobab trees, and plenty of predators gathering to drink. Later that afternoon you'll settle in at Panorama Campsite for dinner and overnight.

    Start point
    Arusha, Tanzania (Arusha, 07:00 - 08:00)
    Meals
    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    Included Activities

    Landmarks
    Tarangire National Park
  2. Day 2

    Tarangire to Serengeti National Park

Breakfast comes at 7:30am, and by 8:00am you're on the drive to Serengeti National Park with a packed picnic lunch. The route takes you past the Ngorongoro Crater rim where you'll do some game viewing along the way. Once there, the park holds the Big Five and hosts over one million wildebeest plus 200,000 zebras during migration season. Late afternoon game drives happen before you reach Seronera Campsite for dinner and overnight.

Breakfast, Lunch (Picnic Lunch Packed), Dinner

  3. Day 3

    Serengeti National Park

After breakfast you'll spend the full day doing both morning and afternoon game drives in Serengeti. Since it's migration season, your guide will use their knowledge to track where the herds are moving. Over one million wildebeest and around 200,000 zebras follow the seasonal rains, heading south in October-November and returning north after April-June rains. Even when migration isn't happening, the park has plenty of wildlife to see. Dinner and overnight stay happen at Seronera Campsite.

    Meals
    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    Included Activities

    • Morning game drive in Serengeti National Park
    • Afternoon game drive in Serengeti National Park

  4. Day 4

    Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

You'll start with three hours of game viewing in Serengeti after breakfast. From there, en route game drives continue as you head toward Nabi Gate where lunch comes around midday. After eating, you'll drive into Ngorongoro Conservation Area and check in at Simba Campsite for dinner and overnight.

  5. Day 5

    Ngorongoro Crater

An early 7:00am start gets you into Ngorongoro Crater with packed lunch for the day. The crater's 2,000-foot high walls create a contained environment where animals rarely leave, so you'll reliably see lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, and antelopes. Your guide will use their experience and connections with other drivers to track down the wildlife. After exploring, you'll drive to Fanaka Campsite for dinner and overnight.

    Meals
    Breakfast, Lunch (Picnic lunch), Dinner

    Included Activities

    • Game drive inside Ngorongoro Crater
    Landmarks
    Ngorongoro Crater
  6. Day 6

    Lake Manyara National Park

You'll have breakfast, then spend the day doing game drives in Lake Manyara National Park with a packed lunch. The landscape mixes a large lake, forest at the entrance, and the Great Rift Valley with hot springs to the west. Tree-climbing lions show up here along with buffalo, giraffe, hippos, and baboon troops. Birds include flamingos, ostriches, and Egyptian geese. After your picnic lunch, afternoon game drives continue before heading to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Morning departure from Arusha takes about 40 minutes to reach Arusha National Park with your private guide. The park has incredible variety in wildlife and plants to see. You'll visit Ngurdoto Crater, sometimes called 'Little Ngorongoro,' where buffaloes, waterbucks, giraffes, warthogs, zebras, and various birds show up year-round. The park has Hollywood history too—the movie 'Hatari' filmed here. Later that evening you'll return to Arusha and head to the airport.

We opted for a group, and we were so lucky with the group, and of course our driver and guide Freddy!! Everything went smoothly from the start and we all had a good laugh. The first day we booked an extra safari in Arusha National Park. This was a warm-up, the walking safari was also very nice where the giraffes happened to come very close. The next day the real safari started with the entire group. First there was a briefing at the office of African polecat safaris. We received a warm welcome with a cake for our group, and a clear explanation of how the trip went. And then the journey began. As an extra, we as a group, together with Freddy, decided to visit a non-commercial stop where the Masai lived. This was very fun and informative, we all danced together and laughed a lot. It is a lot of fun to travel through all the different parks, each park has its charm and especially very different views. It's not just about the animals, you can often enjoy the endless views, sunsets and the tranquility that prevails. You can't always influence what you see on the animals, but we were very lucky that we were able to see everything. And sometimes with a beautiful view. All the different sleeping places (tent camps) were also perfectly arranged. Everywhere we received a warm welcome, it was very neat and clean, plus excellent food. I'm really glad I did this, it's been on my list for a while. The service was just really perfect, before the trip with the contact with James for all our questions, the whole trip ran smoothly, have a great group, and of course Freddy who drove us to the best places, and a very good driver!! Don't hesitate, just do it!

Incredible experience! We spent over a month in Africa, and this tour company gave us the best service of the whole trip. Our tour went over 3 days, where we had a small group tour with one guide. The guides were so incredibly knowledgeable and really made such an effort to give us the perfect Serengeti experience! They communicated to other guides to always make sure we got to view every animal possible. We saw so much wildlife on our tour, which would obviously vary each day and would depend on which time of the year you went. Our tour guides name was David, and he had so much knowledge and wisdom to share with us. You could tell just how much he loved the animals and his job! The food we got throughout the tour was always good, especially when it came to dinner time. Our tents were always already set up for us, which was extremely helpful after a long day of sight seeing. I would definitely 100% recommend this tour company to go through if ever visiting the Serengeti!

    Asked on June 7th, 2022

I am a college student from the United States. I will be doing research in Dar es Salaam for 5 weeks this summer, and am looking to travel afterwards by myself. I am looking for a tour starting the night of July 22nd or on July 23rd, until August 3rd. I am hoping to spend some time exploring cultural things, but spend most of my time on a Safari (I am particularly interested in Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater) and some time in Zanzibar. I am also interested in potentially visiting Mt. Kilimanjaro. What would you recommend for itinerary based on my time availability? I am looking for a budget tour, and am also looking to join a group as I will be traveling alone. I was also wondering if there was any possibility to downgrade accommodations for this tour for lower prices?
