Itinerary

1. Day 1

   Arrival in Negombo

   You'll be met at the airport by a local representative who'll drive you to your hotel in Negombo, roughly 30 minutes away. Depending on when you arrive, there might be time for a quick look around town before you check in. Negombo itself is a working fishing village with some historic character, so after your travel day you can just settle in and get some rest.

2. Day 2

   Sigiriya and Pidurangala

   Following breakfast, you'll head out to Sigiriya to climb the rock fortress, which rises nearly 200 meters and contains ancient water gardens, boulder gardens, art galleries, and castle ruins. Later in the afternoon, you'll take a soft hike up Pidurangala Rock to catch the sunset. That night you'll stay in a tree house accommodation.

3. Day 3

   Village Cycle Tour, Catamaran Ride and Dambulla Cave Temple

   This morning starts with a cycle ride through back roads around Habarana village, passing local houses and stopping for a herbal drink and snack. From there you'll take a catamaran boat ride on the lake where both Sigiriya and Pidurangala rocks come into view, then grab a Sri Lankan rice and curry lunch in a mud hut. In the evening you'll visit Dambulla Cave Temple to see ancient stone carvings and paintings before heading to another tree house for the night.

4. Day 4

   Kandy

   You'll travel to Kandy, Sri Lanka's cultural heart and heritage city. In the afternoon you'll visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic, the country's most respected Buddhist monument. There's time to check out other attractions in Kandy, and you have the option to see a traditional cultural show with dancers if you're interested. You'll sleep at a hotel in the city.

5. Day 5

   Kithulgala White Water Rafting and Adam's Peak Trek

   After traveling to Kithulgala, you'll do white water rafting on the Kelani River, the same spot where 'Bridge on the River Kwai' was filmed. Once you're done with that, you'll head to Adam's Peak and check into your guest house. Later that evening you'll start climbing Adam's Peak so you can reach the summit and catch the sunrise in the morning.

6. Day 6

   Ella

   Following your descent from Adam's Peak, you'll travel to Ella, a hill village surrounded by tea plantations and mountains. In the afternoon you'll hike up to Ella Rock for countryside views and pass by the famous Nine Arch Bridge. By evening you'll be back at your hotel to relax after the day of hiking.

7. Day 7

   Flying Ravana Zip Line, Rawana Waterfall and Yala National Park Safari

   After breakfast you'll try the Flying Ravana zip-line, which is the longest in the area and hits speeds of 80kmph with views of the hills below. You'll stop to see Rawana Waterfall and Ella Gap on the way to Yala. In the afternoon you'll do a game drive safari in Yala National Park looking for leopards and wild elephants. That night you'll stay at a tented camp inside the park.

8. Day 8

   Galle Fort and Colombo

   After breakfast in the park, you'll travel toward Colombo and stop to see the famous stilt fishermen, then explore Galle Fort with its colonial-era buildings. From there you'll continue to Colombo, check into your hotel, and spend the evening exploring the capital city on your own.
