Kathmandu
You'll arrive in Kathmandu and connect with your guide at the airport for the drive to your hotel in Thamel. The afternoon gives you time to walk around nearby shops and grab any last-minute gear you need for the trek. Your guide will go over what to expect from the trek during the evening briefing.

Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding
A 35-minute domestic flight takes you from Kathmandu to Lukla where your trek begins. The trail starts at a ceremonial gatehouse and climbs past Kyangma Village with its large monastery, then continues through Cheplung Village and forest near the Dudh Koshi River. You'll cross a suspension bridge, pass through Ghat Village with its prayer wheels and Buddhist monuments, and finish at Phakding Village.

Phakding to Namche Bazaar
Multiple suspension bridges carry you over the Dudh Kosi River as you pass through Tok-Tok, Benkar, and Monjo villages. After entering Sagarmatha National Park, you'll purchase your permit at the entrance gate. From there, you'll follow the river bed for several hours, cross the Hillary suspension bridge, then face a steep climb up to Namche Bazaar, which has restaurants, internet cafés, ATMs, and banks.

- Day 4
Namche Bazaar (Acclimatization Day)
You're staying in Namche Bazaar for acclimatization with options to explore actively if you want. Hike up to Everest View Resort, visit Thame, check out Khunde, or simply wander around Namche Bazaar itself. Don't skip the Tourist Visitor Center near the Sagarmatha National Park headquarters, which displays relics from early Everest climbers, Sherpa cultural items, and information about local flora and fauna.

Namche Bazaar to Tengboche
You'll start with a steep ascent through fragrant rhododendron, juniper, and conifer forests. The route takes you through Yak Kharka, a yak grazing area, and past several Sherpa villages. The trail provides good views of Khumbu La Pass and Tengboche as you progress.

Tengboche to Machhermo
Trekking through juniper forests gives you views of Mt. Cho Oyu, Mt. Khangtega at 6782m, and Mt. Thamserku at 6623m. By afternoon you'll reach Machhermo Village at 4470m, and the rest of the day is yours to explore the village and the area around it.

Machhermo to Gokyo
Mt. Cho Oyu at 8281m comes into view this morning as you trek along. You'll reach the gorge at the base of Mt. Khangtega and see the massive Ngozumpa Glacier. After lunch, you'll trek to Gokyo's fifth lake known for its turquoise water, then make a steady climb to Gokyo for the night.

- Day 8
Gokyo to Cho La Pass
This is a challenging day with a steep climb to Gokyo RI at 5357m. From the top you'll see Gokyo Valley, the massive Ngozumpa Glacier, and panoramic views of the entire Khumbu region including Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Cho-Oyu, and Gychung Kang at 7952m. After taking in the views, you'll head back down to the beginning of Cho La Pass for a dormitory overnight.

Cho La Pass to Lungden
Starting early, you'll climb to Gokyo RI at 5333m for views of the massive Ngozumpa Glacier, upper Gokyo Valley, and surrounding peaks like Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Nuptse, Cho-Oyu, and Gychung Kang. Then you'll head up and over Renjo La Pass at 5345m, descending afterward to Lungden Village at 4350m where you'll stay the night.

Lungden to Thame
You'll head to Thame at 3800m and visit the celebrated Thame monastery to observe Buddhist prayers by the monks. This is a chance to experience Sherpa hospitality, traditions, and culture firsthand. Thame is the birthplace of Apa Sherpa, who has summited Everest 21 times. You'll stay overnight in Thame to prepare for the descent back to Namche Bazaar tomorrow.

Thame to Namche Bazaar
You'll trek back through numerous villages including Khumjung on your way to Namche Bazaar. With the mountains now behind you, you'll continue to this famous Buddhist town known for its Sherpa culture and energetic atmosphere, a popular spot where trekkers rest and share stories.

Namche Bazaar to Lukla
This is your last day on the trek as you return to Lukla, your starting point. You'll have time to reflect on the journey and rest after this physically challenging trek. The afternoon is free, so you can take a hot shower, grab drinks at a bar, or simply relax.

Lukla to Kathmandu
An early morning flight takes you back to Kathmandu to avoid the strong, unpredictable afternoon winds. From the air, you'll get views of the vast Himalayan Mountains and have time to reflect on your trek into these mountains.

Kathmandu Departure
Your trip ends as the airport representative drops you at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport at least three hours before your departure flight. You'll have time to reflect on your adventure in the Himalayan Mountains and perhaps think about planning another trek in the future.
