Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Dead Sea

You'll head south through the Judean Hills, passing by the Inn of the Good Samaritan as the landscape drops below sea level toward Earth's lowest point. A cable car takes you up to Masada, where King Herod's ancient palace-fortress sits perched above the desert, dating back over 2,000 years. From there you'll drive through the desert terrain past Ein Gedi and Qumran, eventually reaching one of the better Dead Sea beaches. You can spend time floating in the mineral-rich waters, which make it easy to stay buoyant without effort.

    Included Activities

  2. Day 2

    Jerusalem Old City

Starting from Mt. Scopus, you get views overlooking Jerusalem before traveling down through the Kidron Valley past ancient Jewish tombs. You'll enter the Old City by way of Zion Gate and walk through the Armenian Quarter, stopping at the Cardo to see the Byzantine-era main street. The Western Wall comes next, then you'll head to the City of David where you can walk through 3,000-year-old underground tunnels carved directly from rock. These tunnels once carried water from the Spring of Gihon, and moving through them gives a real sense of how people lived and survived in ancient times.

  3. Day 3

Mount of Olives and Via Dolorosa

This day focuses on sites where Jesus spent time, so you'll start on the Mount of Olives visiting the Church of Ascension, Church of Pater Noster, and Dominus Flevit. From there you'll check out the Church of All Nations and the Garden of Gethsemane. The Pools of Bethesda come next before you walk through the Old City, stopping at the Church of St. Anne and the Convent of the Sisters of Zion. You'll then follow the first stations of Via Dolorosa, walking the path that retraces Jesus's journey toward Calvary through the narrow streets of the Old City.
