Itinerary

Day 1
Delhi to Agra
Your driver picks you up early from your Delhi hotel for the roughly 3-hour drive to Agra. You'll stop along the way to grab tea, coffee, or snacks before arriving in Agra. Once there, you'll see the Taj Mahal, that white marble mausoleum built by Emperor Shah Jahan. After grabbing lunch at a local restaurant, head over to Agra Fort to walk through its Mughal architecture. If you're interested in seeing more, the Baby Taj (Itimad-ud-Daulah) is an optional stop. Your driver then takes you back to Delhi for your airport departure or next destination.

I had an amazing time on this trip. My driver was responsible and professional as well as a good sense of humour and personality. Shimla is a magical hidden treasure that was just BEAUTIFUL. McLeod Ganj was also just GORGEOUS. I was actually EXTREMEMLY lucky that on 25th December the Dalai Lama was giving a special ceremony and I got to see him. The hotels along this trip were all great. The destinations over 6 nights in the Indian Himalaya states were terrific - Shimla and Dharamshala, even Garli, plus a stop in Chandigarh on the way back to Delhi - fascinating places and two guides, one better than the other plus a very attentive and good driver, in a sea of driving madness on Indian roads. Accommodation was excellent - hotels rooms were very good quality as was the food available. Some of us do partake of alcoholic beverages like beer and wine and this was lacking in most places but not a big problem.

Wonderful host / safe driver Avtar for trip to Haridwar where we were met by an extremely personable and knowledgeable young guide who accompanied us to the major attractions and secured prime seating to observe the Aarti on the banks of the Ganges on the first evening / Excellent accommodation in Rishikesh and a very informative guided (by our young local guide again) city tour of Rishikesh on the second day including visits to various ashrams including a walk through the former Rajaji Tiger Reserve where greater than 100 meditation huts were in use as well as the hotel where the Beatles stayed and wrote ~ 40 songs

Payment information
- For any tour departing before January 10th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after January 10th, 2026, a minimum payment of 10% is required to confirm your booking with Avtar India Tours. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 35 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
