Itinerary
- Day 1
Cairo
You'll arrive in Cairo and your guide meets you at the terminal for the drive to your hotel. After settling in, there's a casual group meeting around 6:00pm in the lobby to connect with other travelers. The evening is open, so you can wander through Cairo's lively streets or book an optional dinner cruise on the Nile if that appeals to you.

Cairo
Starting early with breakfast, you head out to see Egypt's most famous ancient sites. The Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx are first on the agenda, with your guide explaining how these 4,600-year-old monuments were built and their significance. From there you'll go to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, which holds over 120,000 ancient Egyptian artifacts. By evening you're back at the hotel.

Cairo to Aswan
A morning flight takes you to Aswan where a local guide shows you around the city. You'll see the Unfinished Obelisk to understand the ancient building methods, then take a boat out to Philae Temple on an island in the Nile, which was built to honor the goddess Isis. After checking into your hotel, there's an optional traditional Nubian dinner available in the evening.

Aswan
If you're up for it, there's an early departure at 4:45am for an optional trip to Abu Simbel, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Later in the day you board a traditional felucca sailboat to start your 2-night cruise down the Nile. The afternoon is yours to explore Aswan at your own pace and walk along the riverbanks.

Nile River
You spend the day sailing down the Nile on your felucca, watching the temples and scenery pass by. Swimming in the river is an option, and you might end up playing volleyball with local kids if the mood strikes. As evening comes, you'll have a local feast right there on the riverbanks with a cold drink while watching the sunset.

Nile River to Luxor
Leaving the felucca behind, you board a coach heading north to Kom Ombo where the temple dedicated to Sobek, the crocodile god, awaits. Next is Edfu with its massive, well-preserved temple to Horus that took 180 years to build. You arrive in Luxor by late afternoon and see the Luxor Temple in the evening under soft lighting, then head to the Karnak Temple Complex, one of ancient Egypt's most important religious sites.

Luxor to Cairo
Your morning includes an optional hot air balloon ride over Luxor for views of the landscape below. Then you head to the Valley of the Kings, called the 'City of the Dead,' to explore royal tombs carved into desert rock. After that comes the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. In the afternoon you drive to the airport for your flight back to Cairo.

Cairo
After your final breakfast and goodbyes to fellow travelers, you check out by 11:00am. A transfer takes you to Cairo airport to depart. Your Egypt tour is complete and it's time to think about where to travel next.
