From there, continue to Pashupatinath Temple, one of the largest Hindu pilgrimage sites in the region, where you can watch cremation ceremonies along the Bagmati River. Kathmandu to Phakding

You'll catch a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla in the morning, where your trek begins. From there, the trail climbs through rhododendron forests and oak trees along the Dudh Koshi River. You'll pass through local villages as you make your way to Phakding, a small town where you'll spend the night in a traditional lodge.

  4. Day 4

    Phakding to Namche Bazaar

The trek starts relatively easy but gets more challenging as the day goes on. You'll cross the Dudh Koshi river and catch your first view of Mount Everest. Around midday, you'll stop for lunch in Monjo, then the terrain becomes steeper. As you climb toward Namche Bazaar, the trail turns vertical and the altitude can make breathing difficult, so you'll need to take steady, slow steps. By evening, you'll arrive at Namche Bazaar, a busy town with shops, restaurants, hotels, and internet access.

    Included Activities

    • Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar
    Landmarks/POIs
    Dudh Koshi River
    Mount Everest
    Namche Bazaar
  5. Day 5

    Namche Bazaar

Today is an acclimatization day, so you'll have time to explore the area around Namche. Most trekkers wake before sunrise to see views of Mount Everest, Thamserku, and Amadablam from nearby viewpoints. You might try salt-butter tea and champa, traditional foods eaten by local Sherpas. If it's Saturday, the market in town fills with traders selling local goods and supplies.

    Included Activities

  6. Day 6

    Namche Bazaar to Thame

After an early breakfast, you'll head toward Thame village prepared for temperature swings throughout the day. The first few hours are relatively flat with great mountain views, then you'll reach Thame village. Near Nauje you'll visit a small monastery home to Tibetan nuns with a large prayer wheel decorated in bright colors. You'll have lunch by the monastery, then take an afternoon walk to help your body adjust to the altitude.

After the visit, head back down to Namche Bazaar and continue toward Khumbila. The path gradually widens and slopes gently as you approach Khumjung, following the mountain's edge. This village sits at the foot of the sacred peak Khumbila, home to a monastery established about 340 years ago that holds a famous Yeti artifact.

After several hours, you'll reach Pangboche where you'll spend the night.

  9. Day 9

    Pangboche to Dingboche

Today's trek heads toward Dingboche at 4410 meters elevation, which is challenging because of the altitude and rocky ground. You'll walk through forests with birch, conifers, and rhododendrons, often passing yak herds. The trail descends to Deboche where you'll cross a suspension bridge over the Imja River, then climbs again to Dingboche. You'll see a white stupa with painted eyes that reflect Amadablam, a great spot for photos. Continuing above the tree line through open grazing lands with yaks, you'll reach Dingboche Valley by evening.

Truly great experience with the team. Me and my group really felt privileged to be able to trek even during this Pandemic. The rhododendrons along the trail, the Sherpas doing their chores, the perfect weather all were a great view to see. Its all thanks to the Asian Heritage Company for having us reach the destination safely and without any confusions.

    • Asian Heritage Treks & ExpeditionsOperatorWritten September 2025

We do not have a group departure scheduled for October 15, 2025. However, we can organize a private trek for you. A private tour allows for more flexibility and a personalized experience, and we would be glad to tailor the itinerary to suit your preferences.

    • Asian Heritage Treks & ExpeditionsOperatorWritten September 2025

We can set a fixed departure date for your trip. If other people join, you will trek together. If not, you will still have a private trip but with opportunities to connect with other trekkers on the trail. We offer budget, standard, or deluxe options depending on your preferences and budget.

    Asked on October 3rd, 2024

What is the expected cost of the meals and any other extras?

    Meals
    Price / Availability
    • Asian Heritage Treks & ExpeditionsOperatorWritten October 2024

During the trek, meals are slightly more expensive due to the remote location. Breakfast generally costs around USD 10, lunch between USD 10-15, and dinner around USD 15. Prices tend to increase the higher you go, but these are approximate estimates. For those who stick to vegetarian meals and traditional Nepali dishes like rice, lentils (dal), and vegetables, costs can be much lower. Beverages like beer, whisky, and wine are comparatively more expensive.

About 3 passes trek, most of the time is possible to manage but some time hard hit winter - then is tough. Normally is possible to make pass. Renjola and chola is normally fine but kongmala is little tough.
