    · November 30th, 2025
This trip was everything I hoped for and more! Stunning Tours went above and beyond to ensure that an experience nearly six years in the making exceeded my expectations. I'd originally booked this trip in late 2019, with the intention of visiting Japan in the fall of 2020 - you can imagine what happened. After several years' worth of uncertainty and a number of life-altering events, Stunning Tours only charged the amendment fee once, offered a discount which nearly cancelled out the single supplement, and consistently offered some of the best, if not the best, customer service I've ever been offered by a tour operator. As the countdown dwindled to zero, I was in a state of disbelief and joy when the time finally came to fly to Japan. On the ground, Trend san (our delightful tour guide) and Sai san (our kind driver) were a dynamic duo that helped bring our small but tightly-knit group of ten people together, facilitating multiple opportunities to spend time with and learn from each other while delving into Japan’s millenary history, customs and language against the backdrop of breathtaking fall foliage and unmatched spiritual energy. From resilient and hopeful destinations like Hiroshima to tranquil Miyajima Island, and from the world-renown Fushimi Inari Taisha shrine to the imposing Mount Fuji and magical Kurashiki, Stunning Tours fed the flame of my lifelong interest in Japan’s culture, which I hope to revisit and learn more about by joining more of their expertly-crafted routes. Arigatou gozaimashita!

Overall, this 8-day tour was an excellent tour on the 6 days that we were actually touring. We covered a lot of interesting sites, from historic cultural cities like Kyoto, to Hiroshima, to Tokyo to Mt Fuji. Excellent guide and driver. But it is billed as an eight day tour. But Day 1 is when you fly into Osaka and meet your guide in the evening . Day 8 is when you head to the airport and leave. For a six day tour, it was great. But a bit of false advertising for the duration.

Overall, I enjoyed the tour very much. Trendsan and Saisan were our guide and driver. They made a great team, tending to our wants and needs. The tour itself was well organized and the hotels were very nice and extremely clean. Most were located in central areas for each town, for easy access to nearby attractions, The schedule is very busy and our group had amazing weather, and yet still got to our hotel each night

Overall, I enjoyed this tour as it gave me a bit of experience in Japan, to make me want to visit some of the same parts from this tour and different parts of Japan in the future. Our group was close to the minimum size, but it made things easier when getting to know each other and following the itinerary and schedule, despite the fast pace we had to go on to keep up with the schedule. I appreciate our knowledgable tour guide Trend-san and our bus driver Sai-san, as they did a wonderful job during the 7 days when we started in Osaka, going as far west to Hiroshima and eventually back east to Tokyo. The only part of this itinerary I would consider changing would be the ferry ride around Lake Yamanakako (despite the nice view of Mount Fuji and seeing some swans during a cloudless part of the day), and rather proceed directly to Mount Fuji. Otherwise, if you want a taste of Japan as a first timer then you should definitely consider this tour.

I initially had low expectations given the affordable price, but this tour exceeded all my expectations! My wife and I had researched all the essential attractions for first-time visitors to Japan and were thrilled to find them all included in the itinerary. We experienced the world’s busiest city, visited Hiroshima—the site of the atomic bombing, explored the historical cities of Nara and Kyoto, and marveled at the wonder of Mount Fuji. It was an exceptional value! Our tour guide, Hiro, was excellent, and the driver ensured a smooth, comfortable ride. Highly recommended!

The original tour we booked was changed after we had purchased non-refundable airline tickets, so we didn’t have a choice but to accept the change and go to Hiroshima. The tour starts in Osaka, but there’s no visit to Osaka. The hotel selected (Star Gate) was 1 hour away from the city making impossible to visit it. Our visit to Kyoto was very rushed (coincided with a weekend) and we didn’t see many of the attractions there. We could have benefited with an extra day there. The hotels were tiny and very uncomfortable for someone who is taller than 5’8”. Hiro, our tour guide was very nice, but he could be a little more informative about the sites, history and Japanese culture. He still needs to improve his English to become more fluent and comfortable with the language.

Can you elaborate on what vehicles we use on this specific tour to get around? Any bullet trains or trains in general? Or if you use vans, I simply cannot tolerate sitting in uncomfortable seats. If you're using motor coaches (buses) - great... but if you're going with tiny, cramped vans, I just need to work that out. Also, I'm 6'2" tall and need to have a relatively larger bed. Twins or small doubles and queens don't work for me. I need the larger double-double or king. I have a feeling that is not an option on this tour?
