I did not do a bike tour with Salento Bici. Instead I did a Walk and Rail Tour that they had recently started organising. A week of walking and catching the local trains around the Salento region, self guided with a GPS, along country roads and coastal paths. I travelled from Lecce to Otranto to Gagliano del Capo to Gallipoli, Nardo and back to Lecce. It was fabulous! I was on my own, but I felt safe at all times. The towns I visited were lovely, the accommodations were beautiful, the swimming was great, and the gelati was delicious!! It was very hot in June, some days the walks ( up to 20km) were quite hard due to the heat and lack of shade along the walks, but the hard work and sweat was paid off with beautiful scenery, interesting places, great swimming spots, and lovely food, and always a comfortable bed at the end of the day. I would recommend to anyone who likes walking holidays and wants to experience the Salento region and its people. The Salento Bici staff , especially Tiziana, were very helpful and supportive throughout the week. I thank them for their help, and recommend their services wholeheartedly.
