Entebbe
Your driver and guide will pick you up at Entebbe International Airport and take you to your hotel for the night. This gives you a chance to settle in after your flight and get some rest before the adventure begins.

Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Early morning departure for a 9-hour drive from Kampala toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda. You'll drive through the Ugandan countryside, passing farms, small towns, and plantations along the way. Lunch happens in Mbarara during the journey, and you'll arrive at your lodge in the evening. The drive covers some interesting terrain as you move from the central region toward the southwest.

- Day 3
Mountain Gorilla Trek
This is the main event. You'll trek in a small group (no more than 8 people) searching for mountain gorillas. Your guide points out signs along the way like dung, nests, and chewed bamboo to track their movements. The trek takes you through forested slopes with vines, bushes, and dense bamboo. Once the gorillas are located, you'll have up to an hour spending time with them, which is the experience most people come here for.

Landmarks Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - Day 4
Rwenzori Mountains
Early start for a 7-hour drive to Kasese and your base for mountain trekking. You'll arrive at Trekkers Hostel in the early afternoon with time to rest and prepare for the climbing adventure ahead. The hostel sits in a valley about 12km from Kasese town at 1,450 meters elevation in a cool, green setting where you can get acclimated before heading higher.

Landmarks Rwenzori Mountains National Park - Day 5
Sine Hut Trek
First trekking day starts on the valley floor through tall Afro-Montane forest. Watch for birds, wild chimpanzees, blue monkeys, and Colobus monkeys in the trees. The diverse plant life includes forest trees, bamboo thickets, and moss-covered vines. You'll stop at Enock's Falls (just 200 meters from Sine Hut) for photos before reaching your wooden hut on a ridge surrounded by tall trees.

Landmarks Enock's Falls - Day 6
Mutinda Camp Trek
Trekking begins at 8:30 am into the steep Bamboo-Mimulopsis Zone with many high steps. You'll climb 551 meters over 1.8km to reach Kalalama Camp at 3,147 meters for a tea break in the Heather-Rapanea Zone. From there, the trail winds over small ridges, crosses streams, and passes moss-covered waterfalls. Trek alongside a mossy river under Giant Heather trees before arriving at Mutinda Camp by a river with a waterfall. Optional climb to Mutinda Lookout offers panoramic views.

Landmarks Mutinda Camp - Day 7
Bugata Camp Trek
Trek through boggy terrain by stepping carefully between tussocks. Cross Mutinda Valley with its tussock grass and everlasting flowers with Giant Lobelias. Climb steep sections to Namusangi Valley at 3,840 meters with sheer waterfalls and peak views. The trail continues with ups, downs, and bog crossings through a wide valley, climbing steadily to Bugata Camp at 4,062 meters. From camp you can see Lake Kopello, snow-covered Weismann's Peak, and down valley lakes.

Hunwick's Camp Trek
Start trekking at 8:30 am climbing steadily up Bamwanjara Pass with long flat bog sections and thick vegetation offering views of three main peaks. This area has populations of Malachite Sunbirds and lobelia flowers. Trek through steep sections before reaching Hunwick's Camp with views of several peaks including Mt Stanley, Mt Baker, Weismanns Peak, and McConnell's Prong.

Landmarks Bamwanjara Pass Hunwick's Camp - Day 9
Margherita Camp Trek
Descend and cross the valley floor to Lake Kitendara with its deep water and beautiful vegetation. Climb Scott Elliott's Pass, then up the ridge to Margherita Camp at 4,485 meters. This historic camp sits between huge rocks offering wind shelter and marks where the Duke of Abruzzi camped during his 1906 climb to Margherita Peak.

Landmarks Lake Kitendara Margherita Camp - Day 10
Mt Stanley Climb from Margherita Camp
Wake at 2 am for early breakfast, then begin the Mt Stanley ascent at 2:30 am. The early start is necessary since clouds and snow typically move in from the Congo rainforests between 1-4 pm. There's a strict 10 am turnaround time for safety. Less experienced mountaineers can climb to a rocky outcrop on Alexandra Peak's southern edge for Congo and ridge views. After reaching the 5,109-meter peak, descend directly to Hunwick's Camp at 3,874 meters.

Kiharo Camp Trek
Start by climbing a ridge toward McConnell's Prong for the best views of all three peaks and Scott Elliott's Pass. Continue to Oliver's Pass at 4,505 meters (3km away). The trail cuts below Weismann's Peak to the Nyamwamba River confluence flowing to Lake George. On clear days you'll see fantastic views of Margherita, Mt Stanley, Mt Speke, and Mt Baker. After crossing the confluence, descend the valley to Kiharo Camp in a deep valley with high cliffs and dense vegetation.

Trekkers Hostel
Wake to calls of Ruwenzori Turaco and other birds. After breakfast, descend the Nyambwamba Valley on mostly downhill terrain with beautiful views, moss-covered rocks along the river, cascading waterfalls, and deep forests. You may spot Duiker feeding. The trail steepens further down with waterfalls, then climbs over a high ridge through dense forest. Stop at Forest View Camp for lunch before returning to Trekkers Hostel in Kilembe.

Landmarks Nyambwamba Valley - Day 13
Kasese to Kibale National Park via Fort Portal
Depart for a 2-hour drive to Fort Portal with a short hike around some Crater Lakes along the way. On clear days you can see the white peaks of the Rwenzori Mountains in the distance. Have lunch in Fort Portal (on your own), then a 2-hour drive to Kibale National Park. This forest is home to at least 12 primate species plus prolific birdlife including the Great Blue Turaco and possibly African forest elephants.

- Day 14
Chimpanzee Tracking and Bigodi Swamp
After early breakfast, head to Kibale National Park office for a chimpanzee tracking briefing. Go on a guided primate walk searching for chimpanzees and other primates including l'Hoestes, red colobus, blue and red-tailed monkeys, brown monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabey. Rangers explain forest fauna and flora. Spend 1 hour with chimps once located, then return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, visit the community and walk in Bigodi Swamp, home to the Great Blue Turaco, around 200 bird species, and 8 primate species.

After breakfast your driver takes you back to Kampala for approximately 8 hours. From Kampala, drive to Entebbe Airport for your departure flight, concluding your Uganda adventure.
