Itinerary
- Day 1
Ban Phonexay to Nong Khuay
You'll meet your guide and drive about 35 minutes through the countryside to Ban Phonexay, where the real trek begins. From there, you're looking at a 4-hour hike through jungle, streams, and bamboo forests heading toward Nong Khuay, a Khmu and Hmong village. There's a picnic lunch set up along the trail with views across Laos. If time works out, you can check out Tom Douk cave before getting settled into your eco bungalow. The evening is spent with your host family, learning about village life and having dinner together.

- Day 2
Nong Khuay to Long Lao Mai
You'll start the morning with breakfast at your host family's home. If you're traveling during rainy season between July and December, there's a hike to the buffalo lake on the agenda. After that, you trek for 4 hours to Long Lao Mai, a Hmong village, with a lunch break somewhere in the middle. Once you arrive, your new host family shows you around the community where locals are selling handmade bracelets and other handicrafts. Dinner happens under the stars, either in the sala or at villagers' homes, and then you settle into the Long Lao Mai Eco-Bungalow for the night.

Long Lao Mai to Kuang Si Waterfall
After breakfast, you'll trek for about 3 hours through thick jungle to reach Kuang Si Waterfall, which is one of the popular spots near Luang Prabang. The falls feature an Asiatic bear sanctuary and a series of cascading pools that are perfect for swimming and exploring. Lunch is served in the jungle along the way. You'll have the afternoon free to relax at the pools and walk around the falls before a transfer takes you back to Luang Prabang.
